Do not be thinking this could be used for anything except turtles. It is very narrow.Works ok

The trap is easy to set up and works great, once the pressure plate is touched it shuts quickly and firmly. I’ve had no luck with turtle I can’t stop accidentally catching fish in it but that’s not the traps fault atleast it works

The trap worked great! I baited it with a the head of a bass, in a knee-high stocking tied to the floor of the trap, and slanted the trap into the water so that the entrance and the bait were underwater, but there was still room for the turtle to breathe on top. Caught a 25-lb snapping turtle in about 2 hours. It was tricky getting the turtle out of the trap, because he wanted to bite my fingers. I attached a metal hook to the end of a piece of wood, and I found that useful for holding the trap door open.

It works, if you set it up correctly. I had it under too much water and the other smaller fish ate the bait. I then put the entry underwater and the bait out of the water, at the end of the trap. I caught two.

Could not give any better rating as this product has been a disappointment.Very difficult to place bait into trap.Very difficult to get the trigger set.Very difficult to place trap in water without having to re-trigger couple of times. If you try to adjust tripper then trap never springs to catch turtles.Waste of money.Went back to trying to shoot turtles with shotgun, a lot less time and money.

It's a good sturdy trap. Baiting it is a problem and it really needs to be redesigned to have a small 'trap door' at the end of it to allow for adding and refreshing the bait. I've yet to catch a turtle with it so I'm a bit disappointed even though I've changed locations and baits over the last several months... but it could be that my pond is so well stocked with turtle food.

I've had a snapping turtle in my pond for a couple of years now that has all but wiped out all of my pet ducks and geese - took me awhile to figure out what was killing them, because he is so wily, I have never actually seen him (well, until now!) I didn't want to try to catch him with float-lines because I have a couple of bass in there I'm hoping will get a little bigger before I catch them. I tried building a home-made trap out of fencing material but he was able to get in, get the bait, and get back out too easily. So I got this trap. I thought it was a bit pricey at first, for something that was only going to get used once (we have a fence around our pasture now and no more breeding-size snappers should be able to get into our pond.) But it sure is an impressive piece of work - all very heavy-gauge, strongly welded stainless steel with a door that can't possibly be opened from the inside, easy to set, and two handles on top (so you don't have to move it by sticking your fingers inside!)I followed the instructions by a reviewer for the larger model of this trap: to place the bait in a mesh bag and wire it firmly to the back of the trap, and that worked - I had him within hours! Or, maybe I should say "her," because there are also two babies in the trap, too, about two years old. So I guess I'll be using this trap again after all - until I've caught all the babies, anyway. And come to that, on looking it over, I really see no reason this trap can't also be used to catch the raccoons and possums who continually try to break into my chicken coop, too. It's almost exactly like the trap I already use to catch these beasties, except that it's a bit wider and flatter. I've been considering buying another one of those, and this one will do double duty.
