I’ve used this furnace a few times now, and it consistently overheats. After about 15 minutes of operation, it shuts down automatically, leaving me with half-melted metal. This furnace is unreliable, especially for long-term use.

A very sturdy and large electronic melting furnace, more reliable than I expected. The customer service is excellent, they answered my questions carefully.

The furnace arrived with nothing damaged. Included was the furnace, power cord, documentation, two graphite crucibles, safety glasses, a pair of canvas gloves, a set of tongs, and four small graphite molds. I have not had the opportunity to do a melt with it yet, but I have run it up to temperature, measured times and temperatures reached as reported by the furnace and a separate pyrometer, and measured the temperature of various places on the metal case of the furnace. My concern was mostly, "does this furnace work and is it reasonably safe?" It does work as advertised, and based on what I've seen so far, I'd give it a thumbs up.Time from room temperature of 61 degrees to 1200 degrees F - 33 minutesTime from 1200 degrees to 2000 degrees F - 38 minutesActual measured temperature at 1200 degrees indicated: 1320 degrees FActual measured temperature at 2000 degrees indicated: 2062 degrees FJust like in the advertising text, the documentation indicates the furnace is not supposed to be operated above about 2100 degrees F, so I would consider what I tested to be near/at the upper limit of what I'd feel comfortable with. This should be adequate for melting/casting most lower-temperature metals up to bronze and brass, although copper might be a bit of a struggle. Cast iron will be out of reach, as will steels and nickel. The times to reach the indicated temperatures were within my expectations although the metal case of the furnace got hotter in places than I would have liked - at certain places on the outer metal skin near the heat source, temperatures in excess of 250 deg F were measured when the furnace had reached 2000 deg F, so please take care not to accidentally touch any of the exposed surfaces during use. I don't really consider this any more of a concern than any random kitchen appliance that may get hot, though. So, my general thoughts:Positives: - Works as advertised - Included crucibles and molds are decent - Time to ramp to temperature is reasonable - Reported temperatures are reasonably accurate - Case design conveniently allows crucibles to be preheated during warmup - Tongs are included, but probably should have been a right-angle set. Negatives: - External case can get hot enough to cause injury in places - Provided 6' power cord is too short, as this furnace really should not be run on an extension cord. - Provided canvas gloves are okay-ish and better than nothing, but get a decent set of leather welding gloves and sleeves ASAP.My honest thoughts on the product are that it's not perfect, but it's not bad either, and if I were in the market for a small electric furnace to melt aluminum, zinc, tin, or brass, I'd look at buying this one again. Thumbs up.

The machine came well packaged. Very simple plug and play and reached 2100 degrees in about 45 minutes from 30 degrees. Works well and very easy to use.
