Due to their low profile design, there isn't much leverage to keep a shelf from sagging. I kind of expected this but tried it anyway. For shelves that are light and aren't holding much weight it isn't an issue. A bottle of Titebond glue made my shelf visibly sag (just a bit)....I still put the glue there. Just know these brackets do not support much weight upon a shelf.

These brackets look nice and worked well with the 8" shelf I installed. Because they sat on top of another piece of wood and I wanted the shelf flush to the wall, I had to carefully notch out both pieces. Overall this worked very well.So why did I take points off? First of all the screw-in drywall anchors are junk. They broke or stripped out when I tried to screw them in, even after I drilled pilot holes. I ended up throwing them in the trash and using my own. Second, the screws did not sit completely flush to the brackets. As you can see from the pictures, the screws into the back of the bracket, stuck out much further than I would have preferred. The ones on the bottom weren't as bad, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so even these bothered me.

I recently used these metal hidden brackets for a shelf project, and they worked exactly as intended. I needed 5-inch brackets for a shelf made from 1x6 lumber, and they provided the right support. However, to make them fit better and avoid sticking out the front, I ended up grinding them down a bit. After that, everything worked perfectly, and the shelf looks great with the brackets hidden neatly behind it. Overall, they were solid and did the job well, but a little customization was needed for my specific setup. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for sturdy, functional brackets!
