Cover way too stiff. Appears to have a rubber o-ring for friction instead of metal tabs. Impossible to keep the same reading when zeroing it. Tried prying the cover off to lube it. Jumped out of the vice and hit the floor bending the shaft and now it's shot. Bought another model.

Wrong model shipped, newer "improved" shipped. Pictured pointers and bezel lock not included. Bezel is stiff enough that accidental movement not likely. The 2046S is discontinued by Mitutoyo, at least according to their American website. Packaging and documentation including certificate of inspection looks correct, registered on their website w/o issue. Would give 5 stars if advertised model was shipped, issue present already in sellers feedback. I just figured if they sent the correct part I'd have those extra bits for an inch indicator. oh well.

I was looking for a Metric DTI but being a hobbiest I didn't want to spend a lot. Amazon had this one for $50 - can't go wrong with that.Nice smooth & accurate movement.

Nice indicator, I got the model number wrong from my previous indicator. This indicator is good but doesn’t have the areas on each side to connect to a mag base molded in has a screw on attachment for one side. But will still work for my needs

If you are on the fence about an indicator, i highly advise this one. if its your first purchase, get Horror Freight metrology equipment out of your mind. this is a brand that can be trusted. thought was put into this device and a good decision on where cost can be cut was made. this may not be as durable as the higher tier indicators, but the body is rock solid. highest quality and accuracy for an indicator in this price range by far. i will be buying more of these for all of my older machines. dial test indicator is next in line.

Very well made. A few plastic parts (bezel and limit indicators) on it but that goes in hand with the price point. It doesn't take away from the precision of the dial. This will suit my needs quite well and should last a long time. Definitely recommend.

From my days working as a Bridgeport milling machine operator, Mitutoyo instruments always stand out for reliability and accuracy without breaking the bank. You might choose to spend big bucks on Starret instruments if you like, but for a reliable workhorse competitively priced, this is the brand you will go to.

Mitutoyo ("Mitsutoyo" is the correct spelling but the company's official English spelling is Mitutoyo) is the most trusted mfg of precision instruments in Japan. In this age of "make them all in China", Mitutoyo insists on Made in Japan, which I highly applaud. Mitutoyo is the equivalent of Starrett, which also insists on Made in the USA, except Starrett products are way too expensive, like Snap-on tools (some Starretts are now made in China and have horrible reputation). The price was a bit higher than was in Japan (additional $20 or so), but for this quality it is still a bargain and I considered the additional cost as shipping. I wanted a digital version but they are a lot more expensive so I went for this analog ver.If you need a precision instrument, I wouldn't cheap out on made in China; go with Mitutoyo or Starrett. Some Starrett products (assume low-end products) are now made in China and they have horrible reputation. Starrett is no longer my option and I'll stick to Mitutoyo, unless Mitutoyo tries to cheap out by made in China like everyone else. Starrett disappointed me, as I support made in the USA.
