The Mitutoyo 141 series vernier inside micrometer includes a set of interchangeable rods for a diversified range of measurement, and has a vernier scale in inch units for making precise inside dimension (ID) measurements. The micrometer and rods have a satin chrome rust- and glare-resistant finish. The measuring faces are hardened steel for durability. The vernier scale is graduated to 0.001”. A locking clamp helps hold measurements in place. The micrometer and accessories come with a fitted case for storage.

Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot.

Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and systems. The company was founded in Tokyo in 1934 and formed Mitutoyo America Corporation in 1963, which is headquartered in Aurora, IL.

It has the 0 to 0.5, with .025 increments on the main line, then the 1-25 markings of .001 dial from .001 to .025, but NO 1-10 "Vernier" scale on the other side of the dial like my outside micrometer does. You can only guess the amount on the dial when1/2 way between a measurement like .001 and .002. It has a nice feel and good quality, and came with 1 rod which I didn't take out. Might return..

Did not come with the 8-9 rod. It's just the body.
