I was surprised how many fleas were on our cats. We don't have carpet and they are inside cats, but somehow got them, and we didn't catch what was happening until they were well along. This comb is easy to use on our short-haired cats. Also picks up loose scab from their scratching. Had to capture fleas from comb within a few seconds with e.g., Scotch tape or they tended to jump off, although some just crawled from one side to the other. Have also seen soapy water suggested, but that would wet the fur and could cause a bit more tangle or drag so we didn't want to go that way.Need to use a good stroke technique, and take cat's personality into account. One of our cats likes to be handled and settled right down for many cycles of stroke some fleas, clean comb with tape. One is touchier so needed two people to handle that one.For our cat with thick fur, short strokes and frequent clearing worked best, for the one with thinner hair and fur could do long strokes from cheek/neck to tail. Both methods got several fleas per stroke. Not sure what technique would be needed for long-haired cats, the tines are very close so could cause tangles.Read somewhere a suggestion to use light-colored sheet or towel to catch fleas that jump or fall off comb before getting captured; a beige terrycloth bath towel worked well for us, the fleas had trouble jumping once they were on it and tended to burrow down instead, so straight to the wash and hot cycle dry to do away with those guys.We were skeptical but bought one as a "let's give it a try just in case" and man, did that pay off.

I use it to comb my puppy. Every comb that I've used on her became her toy because they have handles. This gently combs and smooths my puppy's coats. Will buy more in future!

Works perfect in both my cat and dog for getting any little bugs they may pick up outside.

This is my top recommended flea comb because it is small and great for removing fleas. I usually use it for removing mats as well because it is quite sturdy and does not pull as much as other combs do. I used to to remove around 50 fleas from a stray kitten and worked marvelously.

This is a good flea comb. I have two miniature poodles with thick curly coats.. It combs through pretty easy.. There may be a little resistance but after the first few times it's easy. I also use this as recommended by our vet to help get the gunky stuff around their eyes out... It works well. I am satisfied with this purchase.

The cat comb is nicer to work with on my dog and cost less. I use them to pull loose deer ticks off a bird dog.

My cat has never had fleas, as she is an indoor cat,and she hates the brush I bought for grooming her. But when I took her to the vet recently, the groomer soothed her with a flea comb, and she (the cat) writhed in ecstasy! We won't even mention the MOUNTAIN of hair the comb removed that her brush had missed! Look, ma! No hairballs! Now I use it nearly every time she gets on my lap. I'm a little jealous, wondering if it's really the combing she's after and not my lap...My only complaint is that it's called a flea comb, when it's also such a wonderful grooming and petting tool!Buy it and Your cat will love it!

Nothing worse than combing through cat and dog fur looking for fleas, except when the comb breaks in two like other flea combs I've bought in the past. This flea comb is sturdy and even traps fleas between the metal teeth giving you time to dunk the comb in water and give the fleas one last swim.It fits in your hand very comfortably and does the job without a worry about the handle cracking off like the plastic-handle combs often do. It's a super product at a super price. Thank you MiracleCoat Flea comb for making a product that really works and is strong enough to last.

Fuzzball Gus gets brushed every night. I live in a studio so there's no way to escape the cat fur so I try to be as proactive as possible by getting as much loose fur and dander off of him as possible. For this, this comb works great. It moves smoothly through his fur, doesn't get snagged or pull, and keeps him happily purring for at least 15 minutes. The one drawback is what another reviewer already mentioned - the black color. Fleas blend in with the black handle and there have been several times when I've brushed out a flea only to not notice because it blended in and so it gets away, back into Gus's coat. Bummer. If they made a white handled version, I would buy that one too.

I have two of this one was for my niece's cat. I know there is no handle but trust it does the job quite well. I usually used it in my cat before given it a bath and after. Also the item is pretty cheap, so you won't feel like your breaking your piggy bank.
