The rubber really doesn’t prevent you getting a spark if you still have electric on. But if don’t when they work well on candelabra bulbs

The pliers are a good size for small spaces, but the grip is not good at all. I tried pulling some interior halogen bulbs and they kept slipping. I think you can modify with different material to improve the grip, but out of the box these do not work well.

Rubber coated clamps worked great. The two sides do not close evenly on each other but this did not appear to hinder performance. Used primarily to remove/install directional/high beam/parking brake indicators that were in a tight space on a 1978 Corvette.

I took a star off because, as others have noted, the grip end is horrible. However, it can be made useable. I sprayed the ends with Rug Grip which makes them non-slip and holds the bulb. You can try that or possibly dip them in liquid latex, which also might make them more non-slip. Otherwise, except for the manufacturing defect (IMHO), they're decent.

I almost didn’t buy this because all the reviews I read were about car bulbs. I’ve had a broken globe bulb base stuck in a ceiling fan for over a year! A. YEAR!!! Everything I’ve tried did not work. I needed a tiny rubber grip and the regular bulb extractors are waaaay too big. Bought this anyway coz…. why not it’s been over a year and I can always return it if it doesn’t work. The broken bulb base was too narrow to insert the tongs into it closed so I opened it and used one grip to slowly turn the base until I could see the edge come up over the socket and finished getting it out myself. I swear I heard angels singing as the clouds parted and the sun shined down on me! Ha! Ok I exaggerated that last part. But this little miracle worker is a must have for anyone who has tiny based light bulbs. 2 thumbs up and a harp string strum. 🤭 Happy happy!

Bought to pullout small 12 volt, 5 watt bulbs in under counter light fixtures. Worked great. The end is flat but you can position the tool around the base of the bulb for easy retraction. Good grip on bill. Liked that fact that the pliers were not loose. Not exactly a vise grip but stayed closed when clamped down. This is helpful when positioning the tool around the bulb.
