Well when they say mini vise they mean mini. It is definitely mini but will work perfect for polishing jewelry and really small stuff. I like that it has pads for the jaws and padded screw thingys for certain things that can't be put in the vise jaws

Cons: the plate that slides open/closed gets a bit stuck when not square to the rail, and there is no good mechanism to keep it square when opening/closing the gap.The driving screw action is a bit rough, so you'll want to add a little grease to the main threaded screw. There is no quick release/ close button to bypass the many turns to close a big gap. HOWEVER, I only saw lighter plastic bodies that had that button, and I desired a more weighty vice that was still small. So when you look at the pics, if it has threaded heat inserts to screw the posts to, it WILL be lighter weight.PROS: Holds the board snug. Weighty enough I am not attaching to a heavier base yet. stays in place well when set on a silicone soldering matt.Recommendations to manufacturer: Include set of longer bolts so the posts can be mounted when the clamp covers are installed. Until then, hit your local Ace hardware store so you get to install all the fun parts at one time. Please engineer the sliding clamp portion to remain square during opening / closing adjustments.

The vice is well made, light yet sturdy & ideal for what I am using it for, to apply pressure on the delicate plastic scales ( handle grips ) on Victorinox pocket knives. I have bought a number of 2nd hand Victorinox pocket knives & have replaced the old & worn scales ( grips ) with new ones & after snapping the new scales into place on the knives by hand they need to be squeezed tight in a vice to ensure that they are on tight & that there is no gap between the plastic scale & the aluminum liner plates of the knife. It cant be done by hand and needs a vice & this one is ideal for such delicate work at home.

The vise a good tool. It's size is appropriate for my work and it is sturdy enough for the work I am doing. But I have had to work on it right out of the box. I have been able to deal with the problems. The first problem was that it would not open when I first tried it so I had to loosen the screw on the bottom so the jaws would move and I put a drop of machine oil on the threads of the main screw. After that the jaws moved smoothly. The four screws that were supplied to hold the plastic jaws in place were too long and bottomed out before they would tighten down the plastic jaws. The screws were okay for the jaws to hold round item to tighten down good. I will need to get a tap and run some more threads in the screw holes or go find some shorter screws that will not bottom out before they are tight. It will be an excellent tool after I fix the problems. I would recommend this vise to anyone that is patient and has the ability to fix it before they use it.

I really like this little vise. it holds small parts nice and securely. All of the parts seem fully formed and in good shape. All of the plastic parts have a bit of flashing on them, but they all clean up pretty well with a utility knife. All of the screw threads are well formed, on both the soft jaws/posts and the main screw.I haven't had it for a very long time, so I can't say how it will hold up in the very long term, but for the short while that I've had it, it seems to be doing pretty well. I don't have any machine table or other surface with T-slots, so I can't test out the bolt-holes, but a small pistol-grip clamp does a fine job at holding it in place at the edge of my desk. For anyone wondering, the screw heads are Phillips #2. Unfortunately, I've lost my thread tester, so I can't say what the thread size is.All in all, this is a pretty good vise. I'm sure this will get a lot more use.

This is a very inexpensive small vice ideal (for my needs) for the Dremel Workstation drill press. It is cheaply made, which should certainly come as no surprise to those who were cheap enough to actually buy it.Having said that, it works great for holding things down while you drill small holes in them. I like the plastic jaws, and the "mandrels" or whatever the correct term is for the posts that hold circular objects. As cheap as it is, it's just basically a bolt and a couple of hunks of metal, with plastic jaws and mandrels. So I expect it to last a long time. I can print new plastic parts.
