Measured from the nut end, the threaded portion starts at 5/8" and ends at 1.5". That's smaller than the cello bow parts I am replacing. Apparently, not all cello bows are the same.

I bought 2 of these when my previous screw wore out after 25 years. Installed one. It was hard to tighten, so I have been fighting with it for 2 months, and now it stripped. Put the other one on just now and so far it seems better. Maybe the first was just a dud? Still, I'm not sure I would order again. I definitely don't want to be replacing it every 2 months.
