Mikrotik CAP AX access points work and work well! Speed results are amazing for 2.4ghz ax and 5ghz ax! POE compatibility is a beautiful thing. I see bad reviews for this access point, claiming 15 years enterprise experience and could not vlan wifi. You can do vlans, and easily with multiple SSIDs! I do 3-4 SSIDs like guest, main, and IOT vlan networks using Capsman with ease - they have created two versions needed for old versus new access points utilizing CAPsMAN to provision APs, Suggest using ROS version 7.13 and higher as it works awesome with mixed Wifi 4 and 6. just add wireless package for older access points to manage with both CAPsMAN servers. Mikrotiks are not easy, and sometimes too difficult for some people who are used to plug play solutions or consumer grade equipment, where you don’t have to be qualified for an IT job to use. If you want customization, security, and solid products and have a small to medium budget, buy Mikrotik and spend some time with them. If you don’t understand the basics of how network protocols, vlans, etc work, then this product may not be for you. I use them with high end managed switches, high end firewall appliances, etc. They work when you actually understand networks, and you are not stuck on brand specific clis or guis. If you truly understand that “everything is the same except different” concept for network equipment, please make sure to try Mikrotik products out! I have been using them for 20+ years, If you truly grasp and understand networks, then there shouldn’t be any brand or product you cannot figure out how to use. Are there lemons? - YES. That’s why amazon has the return policy. Not everything is perfect.

When I received this I could not believe the amount of details that could be controlled. I hold eight Cisco certifications so was able to follow most of what this is capable of.If you just need plain wifi for your house, this might not be your device unless you want to take on a fun project that's going to teach you a ton about networking! For the price this is absolutely amazing. I would give it 6 stars if I could.Oh, this does come with the PoE injector. It doesn't state this explicitly in the description.

Steep learning curve with RouterOS, but once you understand it you can do quite a lot. Handles vlans well although the configuration is not straight forward at first. It has been a rock solid PoE access point for the past 6 months. There is a mobile app that makes setup slightly easier for the uninitiated. MikroTik also offers some free training on their Youtube channels, although the UI versions shown are sometimes out of date and have slightly different options when trying to follow the setup walkthroughs.

got it out of the box and immediately put it in CAP mode and it hooked right into capsman on a hex s. extremely lit!!! locked it down from there and it's good to go. super easy setup if you're experienced with routeros, otherwise it's prob kinda hard lolalso seems to accept passive poe in addition to 802.3af/at which is how it's advertised. it powers on from the hex s' passive poe output which is neato!

If you're using mikrotik equipment in the first place, you probably have an idea of how this will work. It's RouterOS. It's pretty manual, a little hard to get around if you're used to shiny consumer UIs.I'm running mine in caps mode with an rb5009 using Poe.Quick tip, update the firmware before setting it to caps mode. It's a little harder to get in afterwards and so far the remote update hasn't worked.

Bought this as the latest AX addition to my MikroTik arsenal. It’s big…. And reliable. Have if configures as part of my CAP infrastructure. Seamless roaming between devices. And as many others say - for Mikrotik (and geeks - including me) enthusiasts…. As all their routers are highly configurable - and not always meant for the plug-and-play (and insecure) mindset.

I got these to replace a set of Unifi AC AP's.I managed them via Mikrotics CAPSMAN service. The whole experience was needlessly complicated, with menu options asking the user to set arcane details that no other manufacturer exposes even in advanced settings. The whole experience feels very broken, with some settings that are supposed to be persistent, not being persistent, etc. etc. RouterOS feels like one large beta test to me.After fighting the annoyance that is RouterOS on them (why an AP would be a router is beyond me) for a while I was able to get them to work pretty well for basic wifi, but as soon as I went to add VLAN's stuff breaks and refuses to work.I am no beginner to enterprise networking, having worked with this stuff for 15+ years. I have spent weeks on the Mikrotik forums and talking to their support without being able to resolve my VLAN issues. In the end I have been left with no other choice than to request a return and go with a different vendor for my wireless networking needs.
