I ordered this microscope ring light to upgrade the lighting on my dissecting scope. This is a big step up from the incandescent light that came with the scope. This ring light was just a fraction of a millimeter too small for my microscope. But a few minutes with sandpaper fixed that problem. It’s not really an issue with the ring light, which is true to the listed size—I just didn’t measure my microscope carefully enough.Once I had the light in place, I was pleased with the improvement in lighting. When it’s on its highest brightness, it’s a little too bright. But the dimmer works perfectly, and gives me plenty of flexibility to accommodate the subject I’m photographing. The light is cooler than I’m used to, but seems to produce true-color photos. I’ll have to experiment to be sure, but even if it lends a color cast, that’s easy to fix in Photoshop.Overall, this ring light is just what I was looking for.

This Upwtkim Microscope Ring Light is a very useful and functional item. It fits my stereo inspection scope perfectly, and using the mounting system and adapter ring it should fit many scopes. It includes a USB power cube with a generous length cord. It has both a power switch and a potentiometer for variable brightness. When working with microscopes and close work light is almost always a challenge. The ring light design is perfectly suited for this. This light is quite bright. But, though the color temperature is clearly stated in the ad, I find the near 7000K cold white light to be harsh. A softer white color temperature would be vastly more preferable. With this light colors of the object being viewed will not render naturally. That will limit usefulness for many tasks. Also, it will be more difficult to properly white balance images taken using this light. The price is right. I like the functionality. But, I do find the color temperature to be too blue for many of the tasks I have in mind for this light. I think for overall usefulness it's deserving of four stars.

A few months back I purchased one of those electronic microscopes with display hoping it would help me inspect circuit boards for bad components. That it has done. Something I didn't like was the "gooseneck" lights that would fight back when I tried to get light where I needed it.Than I spotted this little ring light. I jumped at it like a chicken picking up corn and oh boy was I lucky! The plastic lens covering 144 LEDs is intelligently designed to give perfectly flat light on a surface and around the area without the glare you'd expect. There's a small rocker switch for power from the USB-A cord (2000 mAh wall block included) along with a rheostat for intensity. I can get exactly the all-around light I need with no trouble. I appreciate the vents to disperse heat that LEDs naturally create. That will help durability. There is a 47.4 mm ring that looks like it screws with fine threads inside something. The ring has a groove for the three long (25mm?) screws at 120 degree spacing that will mount the light around any diameter from 63 mm down to *I think* a tube around an inch (25.4mm). The positioning screws are toward the top of the light to mount on the end of a tube, but smaller tubes would go through the smaller diameter at the lights up to about 59 mm diameter. Now I'm about to get myself confused. This thing rocks and if you have ANY need for a good light you'll love this one! I think I'll use a battery bank because that microscope has too many wires as it is.

This is a very nice ring light that has excellent dimming capability, with zero flicker, and a very smoothly operating high quality dimmer knob. This ring light will evenly light any subject under a microscope, and the 144 small LEDs really produce a bright, even light.Build quality is excellent, and the dimmer knob is very impressive in how smoothly and precisely it operates, and combined with the good quality LEDs that can dim very evenly, you have excellent lighting control.Everything you need is included with the product, USB brick, adapter ring, and the light itself.
