I used the 2 micrometer thimbles for the X and Y axes of the stage of a measuring microscope - for my home workshop. This allows me to measure to 1/200th of a mm - quite good enough for my purposes- small pitch threads, clock and model parts. Micrometers contact hardened steel buttons on brass 60 degree stage slides, with spring loading on the opposite side. The micrometer thimbles run very smoothly in this setup.Delivery was slow after my December 30th order- probably because of the New Year and MLK holidays.
