Kester 44 63/37 is better. This isn’t bad….just not as smooth flowing.

I've been soldering since I was 14 years old and I'm retired now so I've used a wide variety of solder for electronics including most of the premium brands. As my supply of Radio Shack solder is starting to run low I started looking for an alternative. The old Radio Shack solder was exceptional and has a huge fan base. This solder works very much like the Radio Shack brand. So far it's been used to solder connectors onto coax cable and make some electronics repairs. The flux in the core works well and it wets the base metal as it should.

I had other solder but am relatively inexperienced. I found this much easier to flow and work with.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you are new to, or inexperienced with soldering make sure you buy high quality solder like this. This IS leaded solder which makes it easier to use, however you need to be more careful with it. Do not breathe in the fumes, and wash your hands after handling it.I have lots of experience soldering, and I made the mistake of buying some cheap generic solder a little while back. It was incredibly frustrating to solder joints even with external flux. I went down the rabbit hole a little as far as different solder alloys and brands and everything. After all that, basically what it boils down to is stick to good brand name solders like this. Don't waste your time buying cheap solders, grab this small tube of solder, give it a try and you definitely won't be disappointed.MG chemicals is a well known name, and I can confirm they make great solder. This is worth a try.

MG chemicals is my preferred brand of solder. It's just not worth it to me to gamble on no-name brands. I've used a couple pounds of this in my lifetime and it's never disappointed. Always melts easily and flows well. I use it for soldering through-hole as well as surface mount components to circuit boards.Buying solder in tubes like this is a bit more expensive then buying a roll, but it's also more convenient. I keep the tubes in my portable soldering kit.

My earlier brand was Kester. In recent years I hav tried the various Chinese solders, even lead-free which is awful stuff. This brand & combination of tin, lead, & flux is superb !!

Bought this to replace some no-name solder and the difference is night and day. It flows a million times better and is only marginally more expensive than the cheap stuff.

I like this solder a lot. Not to say I'm familiar with many different brands or types, but with my limited experience over the years this is pretty legit. My only words of wisdom are stay away from the godawful lead-free stuff and use flux. Bought a tube for work and came back getting more for home use. I prefer this compact tube for toolbox space.
