I was pleased that it was stainless steal and not plastic or chrome. It appears to be well made.

Pack the meatball mixture tightly onto the scooper. Push little sections back-and-forth a little bit to encourage them to form into balls. Then push them directly into the soup, sauce, onto the baking sheet… Whatever you’re using. They won’t be perfectly round, but if that doesn’t bother you, this works well and does save some time. The only thing I would change are the columns. I’d prefer them to be wider so the meatballs were larger. This device makes meatballs that are about an inch to an inch and a half around, which is much smaller than what I normally make by hand.

I really like kitchen gadgets. But we’ve got too much clutter so I’m being a bit more selective on what comes into the house. But I saw this meatball maker tool and was a bit intrigued. I don’t usually make meatballs often, but decided I wanted to try this tool. The day after this meatball maker arrived I got my chance when we bought some slider rolls and a package of American Wagyu beef.Since sliders are pretty small, this meatball maker actually worked out pretty well. I was able to quickly shape and scoop the ground beef into small balls that fit the tiny slider rolls. The nice part was that my hands didn’t get sticky and icky from having to shape the meat into little patties. So this can be a useful kitchen tool!

I ordered this to see how well it speeds up making meatballs. I like that it's stainless steel. The four channels are very lightly soldered together; I hope it holds over time. The meatball maker is cleverly designed with its four channels. It's a fun tool, and it's easy enough to use and wash. I was a bit skeptical about its ability to make a round meatball without touching it, as the description had implied. I oiled the channels slightly for the bean recipe, which had no fat. In both cases, filling the channels was easy. Simply plop food in bulk onto the meatball maker, then use the "spoon" part to spread and press down the contents across all four channels.TESTING IT: I tested the meatball-making process two ways: 1) with a black bean meatball vegan recipe 2) with a beef- & turkey-blend meatball recipe. It functioned the same way for both the meat and vegan foods. My photo shows how it was easily pushed by the "spoons" out of the channel. It produced a partially squarish shape -- not as perfectly rounded meatballs such as is shown in the seller's photos. However, having the segmented pieces still speeded up the process enormously, plus it created uniform meatballs. I did have to "dirty my hands" briefly to make the meatballs round. My photo illustrates how it came out of the meatball maker, and how they looked after I rounded them. However, if you don't mind the partially squarish shape, you can push the food straight from the meatball maker right into the skillet! In summary, my test results show that it doesn't directly produce fully rounded meatballs, but that it's definitely a timesaver. It could make a unique, fun cooking gift or stocking stuffer (a wide stocking, LOL). I hope this information helps you.
