It's a reflex hammer - not the most complex thing, but useful. The ones we have in our ER keep disappearing, and while this one is about 15% larger than I expected, it is also less likely to grow legs and walk away!

As a doctor, I am thoroughly impressed with the Queen Square Neurological Reflex Hammer. This tool is a foundational physical examination tool for all healthcare providers. In my practice it is used on a very routine basis. This hammer has outstanding balance, flexibility in the shaft, and ideal length. The hammer's balance is spot on, making it easy to elicit precise reproduceable force for consistent reflex testing with minimal effort. The flexibility within the handle allows for controlled, consistent taps, giving me the confidence that I'm providing the best testing for my patients. The overall length of the hammer is perfect—it provides excellent reach without feeling cumbersome. The quality of construction is evident, and it feels durable enough to withstand the rigors of daily use. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or just starting out, this reflex hammer is a must-have tool in your diagnostic kit. Highly recommended!

For a neurologist, or anyone who cares to actually check reflexes this is literally the only type of hammer that works

I use a reflex hammer quite often, and I have been using the wrong one for like 5 years. Wonder why I was not taught this. Anyway, glad I found this hammer. I get an accurate reading on the reflexes on the first try, versus 3-4 times on the previous hammer I was using. Although I am not neuro or ortho, it is important to me to check reflexes. It is kind of intimidating to patients when I whip it out, but I reassure them that it is not painful.

The quality of this hammer is better than I expected and I love the fact that the tip has a cover and the handle has a soft rubber holder unlike the other plastic ones. The others seem flimzy.

I've tried out a variety of reflex hammer types, and this lightweight, non-telescopic babinski reflex hammer is among the best, and is very reasonably priced. I've also used a MDF a trömner model (full weight) that was excellent. You quickly find out when testing patients' reflexes that poorer quality hammers just don't cut it...There needs to be a certain weight and sturdiness, that facilitate elicitation of reflexes in a very noticeable way. This hammer meets this quality level and if you're prepped for its rather large size (a downside for storing in your pocket, but an upside for a seamless and effective swing movement for reflex testing) then I recommend it. Its red pointed end can furthermore aid in rudimentary color visual perception and peripheral field testing.

I have had this hammer for a few years. It is very well made and useful for reflexes. However it is can be bulky in the white coat pocket.

The box it comes in has a magnet so it acted as a nice case. It's also really nice/easy to use, I always got a patient commenting on how large it was but it worked very well for getting reflexes. The design is good and has a good lever arm. Overall it's very gentle to use. Sure it's kind of big and sticks out of your coat pocket but if you've got it I say flaunt it.

Sturdy but light, perfectly balanced to effectively elicit reflexes every time. If you want to carry this in a small bag, it will not work. If you intend to store in a drawer or on a table, this will become your favorite reflex hammer. If you are a student who will be working with a neurologist, THIS is the hammer that will separate you from those who have no idea about the tools of the trade. In a clinic setting, or during rounds, it is not uncommon to see this hammer tucked into the button hole of a white coat. This one is made well enough that you'll not find the top separating from the handle.
