Does your original device have a THICK Back? (How do I know?)

Original devices that have thick backs are the following:

  • iPod Video 5th Gen A1136 60GB, 80GB (White or Black)
  • iPod Classic 6th Gen A1238 160GB (Black on Black color)

If your iPod is any of the above ^, this battery will fit into your original case, along with your original hard drive, or any SSD conversions you are doing (namely, iflash)

If your iPod is NOT any of the above, it is THIN! Which means this battery will only fit with an iFlash quad conversion. Any other conversion (Solo, Dual, ATA, etc) will require you to purchase a thick back.

Picked this item up for an upcoming repair job of a generation 5.5 80GB phat ipod. Should be able to snuggly fit into the ipod after upgrading over from an internal hdd over to the iflash SD modification. Definitely a sizable upgrade from the standard miniature 600 mAh battery that comes installed from the factory. Ran a quick capacity test and the advertised rating seems to check out. Waiting for the last piece, the SD card adapter, to start the install and will update the review with a final image once it all comes together.

This battery went into a moded Ipod Classic that has the Iflash-Dual with micro sd chips and the thinner back. Needless to say I was wondering if it would fit as this configuration isn't specifically mentioned as being supported. It fits perfectly.A note or two on quality and construction. The battery itself looks like it's of better quality, the sides on this battery has an edge that cleaner looking and isn't like some others I've run into with folded edges. This made fitting it in a bit easier. Also this battery was maybe a 1/16th thinner then the one that came out, so that seemed like a plus. Not having that extra thickness pressing against the back of the screen, that has to be a good thing.Hardest part of the entire project was opening up the actual ipod

Obtained a totally trashed iPod Classic 5.5 on eBay. Dead battery, cracked LCD screen, road rash all over and audio jack that didn’t work. This 3000mah battery was part of the restoration. I have another MCM just like this one in a iPod I’ve been using 6 months the battery has very good capacity.

Works great with my iPod classic "7th gen" with thin back. I also have it paired with a iflash quad and both are taped down lightly so they don't move inside. My only word of caution is be VERY careful with the battery connector when removing old battery and connecting new one. It is very easy to life the entire connector straight off the motherboard. requires fine soldering skills to put it back. - Lil Rice Muncher Gaming on YT

Says it is for a slim ipod, which is wrong, but it works in the thicker models, love it other than wrong title
