This tool keeps a sharp edge, and works well for removing refractory around burners and steam tubes in the boilers we repair.

White others call theirs Heavy duty ,when you put this with the CP717 1/2 shank super duty impact . you see the extra expense is worth it and 2/3 of the time less to do the same job

This is a little more spendy than the competition, but worth it. I own Mayhew prybars, chisels, scrapers, picks, etc. All have held up under demanding circumstances and performed great. I bought them after trying the cheaper brands and learning my lesson.

I've started to use Mayhew hammer chisels, and I'm impressed with them. This one seems to hold an edge pretty well. When you use your air hammer with a chisel, you are looking to inflict violence upon your work and are getting frustrated. Let's say you can't get a hydraulic fitting to turn. You grab your impact hammer and this chisel and go to work. The edge must be fairly sharp to give a place to bite, and you'd rather not have to sharpen your chisel every time you pick it up. The Mayhew holds up pretty well. Also, frequently your impact hammer tools are too short. If they're too short, you can't get the best angle on whatever you're attacking. You don't want to be a mile away from your work, either. 10" is a pretty good all-purpose length.

Bought this to remove the steel rivets while replacing the ball joints on my Ram Truck. Worked very well. Held its edge.
