I am very satisfied with the Mayco SG4011 Designer Liner in Black! As a beginner ceramic artist, finding a reliable product for fine detailing has been a journey, and this liner exceeded my expectations. The consistency of the liner is perfect—not too thick or thin—allowing for precise application and intricate designs on my pottery, and is great value for the money. I appreciate how easy it is to control the flow of the liner, whether I'm outlining intricate patterns or adding small accents, its performance has been great. Before firing, you should be careful because the application will be vulnerable to chipping or scraping off easily. After firing, the black color remains vibrant and glossy, enhancing the overall aesthetics of my pieces. This has become my go-to choice for adding detailed and professional-looking designs to my ceramics. I highly recommend.

I recently purchased the Mayco Black Designer Liner for my ceramic projects, and while it has some positive aspects, I was disappointed with how the color ran when I applied a clear glaze over it on vertical surfaces. I have a tiny kiln and have to arrange my tiles vertically to fit so horizontal firing for this size is out of the question.The rich and concentrated pigment in the liner is great for creating intricate designs and illustrations. The enclosed writer tip makes it easy to draw fine outlines, lines, and words, which is a plus for detailed work. The 1.25-ounce size is also convenient to handle by hand and lasts for several projects.However, when I applied a clear glaze over the black liner on vertical surfaces, I noticed that the color ran and blurred, resulting in a less crisp and defined outline. This was disappointing as I had expected the liner to hold up well under the glaze.While the Mayco Black Designer Liner has its strengths in terms of pigment concentration and ease of use, I was disappointed with the color run when a clear glaze was applied over it on vertical surfaces. I may continue to use it for certain projects where the color run is not a concern or the projects are fired in a horizontal fashion, but I will have to find an alternative for my vertical surface designs.

This goes on in a nice thin line and doesn't bleed when firing. The only problem so far is that the nozzle gets clogged even though I use the pin while storing it. You cannot even really see the opening if you take off the cap because it is so small. I like the product but wish it was more reliable to do lines without stopping to unclog.

Just made about 50 tiles with this black bottle as my outliner and it worked perfectly. Most people complaining are not reading the instructions. This paint is for bisque to be fired in a kiln, not writing on other random objects. It's meant to have a clear glaze over it before firing -- don't skip this step and complain the paint peels off. The bottle comes with a tiny needle cap that keeps the nozzle clear and works great -- don't skip using this and be sad that your nozzle is clogged. Replace the needle top in the bottle if you are going to stop painting for a few minutes. Follow instructions and this outliner is amazing.
