Taking it out of the box I almost returned it because it is made of plastic and seemed flimsy. I was pleasantly surprised after installing it and also realizing it stays on as an additional tail light function. I thought it was blacked out then only came on when teh brakes were applied. Looks good and is not TOO bright and annoying - does the job well. I mean for $13.....I'm not sure how you can go wrong with it. Matches my Oracle lights great on my Bronco :)

I absolutely love this product , so many good things to say , the quality of materials, price but as ; if not more importantly the functional aspects of what this product is designed for . This is not just a good looking receiver hitch cover but with the bright red led lighting added it serves as a much needed safety feature as well.

I'm surprised this has 70% 5 star reviews. I read the 1 stars that talked about improper behavior but thought that those were odd situations since this is Amazon's recommendation but I experience the same kind of thing on my Chrysler Pacifica. It lights fine when the running lights are on and when you step on the brake but if you put on the right turn signal it flashes with the turn signal. It does not flash with the left turn signal. Since regular trailer lights work correctly I have to assume there is something wrong with the circuit in this light. Of course it will do this pretty much every time since if you put on your turn signal you are probably slowing down for a turn.

Installs in minutes and lights up nicely on running light and brake lights, but flashes only when turning right!? Don’t understand the logic, nevertheless looks very nice and puts additional visibility.

Had to do a little extra wiring. This light is decently bright. If your vehicle uses the same bulb for blinker and break lights than this hitch break light will flash when the break is being pressed and either blinker is on. It will not flash nor light up when just a blinker is on. It will flash when the hazards are on. It uses a standard four pin trailer light connector. One wire is for ground. A second wire is for parking light( this light has a less bright parking illumination). A third wire is for left blinker/break light. A fourth wire is for right blinker/break light. The light will shine bright when power is sent to both the right and left blinker/break wires. It will not turn on when power is sent to only one wire. Therefore no light when just blinker, flashes with one blinker and the other break, shines steady with break pressed with no blinker.I did not want this to flash when using my blinker so I located the wire feeding my third center break light. I cut it and spliced in a wire with crimp connections that I ran through the body panel to a compartment. I purchased a 6’ trailer wiring harness with the four pin connection. I plugged into this hitch light and snaked the harness into the compartment in the body panel. I connected the ground from the harness to the vehicle body. I then identified the two wires that need power for the bright break illumination and connected them to my wire from the third break light. Works great when break is pressed with no flashing from blinker being used.This may not work for all vehicles. Some monitor the bulbs of all the break lights and indicate if blown. If the vehicle detects a high or low resistance out of a specified range it may give a dash warning light something is no right. I temp connected this hitch light to the third break light before going through the work of snaking the wires. It worked so I proceeded with install.All in all about a hours work and it does exactly what I want it to do.
