Zero wobble equals ZERO Broaching action. This thing just spins flat like a "live center" making it unusable as a broaching tool. Don't waste your money.

Product Reviewed: maXpeedingrods Rotary Broach Tool Holder 3/4" Shank Diameter for 1/2" Shank Broach for $75 less 10%TL;DR; Robust straight shaft design; Wobbles like is should?; needs 1/2” cutters; EconomicalI’ve wanted one of these for a while. I only did a pretty basic checkover on this but the design of these is not complex. I still don’t have a cutter for this one so all I could do is chuck it up in the mill and verify that it does wobble in what looks like an appropriate way. I got about a 1-2 thousands axial wobbleThese things have a huge range in price which is difficult to understand given the simple geometry. I wish this one came with a single cutter so that at least we could verify cutting action. Before buying get your hands on cutter so you can try this out asap.4 Stars. How I review:Reviews start with 5 stars and I subtract points.- 0 for value but I try to provide guidance-0.5 to -3 for product not matching description e.g. stainless steel is actually plated steel-0.5 to -3 for product missing badly on executionI select products carefully so low (1-3 scores) are rare but detailed comments and critiques almost always are in the review. Most of my reviews come out 4-5 range. If possible I dismantle or destroy items to examine inner workings.

There is no precession wobble that allows the broach to plunge through the workpiece. Consequently the broach doesn't work it's magic and proceed down through the material.

This rotary broach tool holder is nicely made, with a smooth bearing that should perform well. Rotary broaching is a great solution for creating square or uniquely shaped holes in blind holes, and this tool appears ready to handle the job effectively. I recommend it.

No angle to the tool. Essentially a live center.

I ordered this to help with holes of different chapes. I have a desktop mill and mini lathe. I do some smallish metal projects and every once in a while I need a square or hexagonal hole. This does not come with the boraches but they are easy enough to make with a little tool steel and 20ish minutes time.

It is easy to use and very affordable. The tool comes in a brown box and is made in China. It does not feel made extremely precisely. The quality of the bearings remain a question. But, since it costs so little, it is worth trying, as the one-year guarantee protects against a mishap. It is definitely a good buy for a sporadic use and an enthusiast. maXpeedingrods does not seem to be the manufacturer, but only a distributor.
