Bought this a couple years ago for a different use so it's been sitting waiting it's turn to get used. We buy a lot of padlocks for various projects and this looked like a nice one so it was saved for a site where a combo would be handy. Combo provided didn't work so - no problem use the one key and open it. But as many others have stated on here, if you don't have the combo (or in my case it didn't work) the combination cannot be reset. Just amazing. Very expensive for a regular keyed lock that only has one key. As far as being easy to pick - pretty much all locks of this style are - so if you need security look for other options.

Rubber protection flap broke when getting it out of the packaging. Does not fit a standard gate latch hole.

We purchased this lock for our shed and have been very happy with it. It is easy to use and we feel like it’s been sturdy and reliable. We haven’t had it long enough to see how it lasts over time but so far so good.

I like the fact that I can easily change the combination if we switch to a new Gardener or I want to prevent someone else from getting into the backyard. It’s a little difficult to see the numbers at night even though I always have a light on in that area. The light reflects off of the in the number rollers, so I need to use a flashlight from a different angle. Not a big deal however, and I would definitely buy another one of these locks. At one point it became difficult to open, but I solved that very quickly and easily by putting WD-40 in all of the holes I could find on the lock.

We bought 3 for our trailers. They seem to be built quite well, not too heavy, not too light. We were able to easily reset the code. I do wish the rollers were a bit smoother though. Recommended.

I bought these to secure our garage door. They are the heaviest locks I could find and easiest to reset to my own combination. Super heavy duty!!

I was very, very impressed with these locks. By far the most rugged locks (of the hundred) I have ever used. Large shank makes it useful in many applications. BUT - I find it 100% impossible to open or lock at night using a cell phone light. The light reflects off the beautifully polished dials and base and looks like diamonds. But I can't even tell there is any writing at all on the dials, let alone make out the digits. The beauty of the shiny surface and cut facets of the dials actually makes it impossible to use except in daylight. Too bad. I will not buy again.

Masterlocks are one of the name brand locks yet, they still use inferior materials, that rust easily. This lock looks to be made of some alloy, but it says boron carbide, not sure what strength it has over stainless steel, but it looks pretty strong and hopefully rust proof. The lock loop is maybe 3+ inches, so getting it on gates where you need to flip it up to unlock, or locking extra items together make the extra room so useful. Most of the exposure parts like the key hole (yes, they provided an emergency key to unlock in case of forgotten combo), or the 4 digit combo are have rubber or plastic covers. There are a couple of exposed holes though and i'm afraid in a rainstorm water will get in here and rust the insides. I thought they forgot the combo but it was hidding where the combo reset key is located so don't throw away the packaging before resetting the combo. Reset was easy, just open the lock with the provided combo, put key in turn it and while holding the key in that position, set new number. It was easy to do. Overall the quality seems more then most of the masterlocks i've seen. I tried the indentation method of trying to pick this combo, but it didn't work for me. So 4 stars for now. If it turns out to be as durable as it's made out to be, i'll up it to 5. For now it's a good lock with 2 ways to open, so 4 stars for now.

Just an update after using for a season. When there is freeze and thaw this locked as freeze up and I cannot turn the numbers also the rubber piece that insulates the Call Maneesh in Numbers does not work well to seal it and this area got frozen as well. For the price of this luck I downgrade it to maybe 2 1/2 to 3 stars now
