I have a complete set from another manufacturer that has nice aluminum frames. I bought the Marshalltown 40" because the largest I have is 32". I felt the plastic frame was very cheap quality. It's also much heavier than an aluminum frame and the plastic frame's design is much less comfortable to hold. The gripping points that you wrap your fingers around are much narrower than my aluminum framed skimming blade set and cause my hands to become fatigued much more quickly. I would highly recommend an aluminum frame set over the plastic frame Marshalltown.

I’m a DIY guy and this thing was great. Made skim coating a breeze.

This product works very well! Other similar products are priced a lot higher, but this works just as it should. Going to buy in multiple lengths.

Not as nice or well made as the higher end aluminum versions but for less than half the price it's hard to complain. The plastic frame doesn't feel as nice and seems to weigh slightly more but for skimming out walls the value it definitely there. Would recommend for tight budget but still good results.

These Marshalltown trails are excellent tools. I see drywall DIYers and contractors say this or that about different brands, and skimming trowels, but being a contractor myself and having used this on drywall jobs… Makes you wonder how you ever did a butt seam without them. Excellent tool, don’t hesitate to pull the trigger, at least half the price of the level five tools that are out there.

Love this, I just wish blade handle was wider than the blade so when working you can set it down vertically against the wall without the blade touching the ground and possibly bending.

Great tool for the price. If I were to be extra critical, the construction is a little flimsy — the blade is a little susceptible to bending at the very edges that are not as supported. BUT, has served me well — if I was dry walling all the time I would have spent the $ on the Level5 skimming tool. That being said. This is a must tool for diy folks doing larger repairs without great skills with smaller mudding knives.

I am a professional painter with a regular but not daily need for drywall tools. While my specialty is not drywall, the job demands some skill in it to keep the customers happy! I have never used or thought I needed a skimming blade and now after finishing my first skim coat job with the Marshalltown ProSkim I wish I had bought one years ago! It was lower cost from others I have seen and seems to be very good quality, although I have no other comparisons I expect it to last a long time or until I damage the blade. I found it comfortable to grip at a perfect angle and gave me a very nice surface to sand. The ends are not sharp, so it left minimal ridges. I ordered the 100cm and now thinking about adding a 60cm to my arsenal. Super fast shipping!
