Pretty run of the mill and suitable for the intended purpose. Can be reused once without issue, even with a good amount of fish in tank.

I have 6 marineland emperor filters, all different sizes. The cartridges have become A. Hard to find and B. Very expensive when able to locate. One pack of these is like a quarter to half the price of a pack of cartridges and i can cut it to the needed size of each tank. Have bought multiple times and saved SO much money. I have a 125 gal and 3x 55 gal all ran on emperors.

I bought this Marineland filter pad for my hanging filters. It easily cuts to the size you need. It does the job for all of my aquariums and helps keep the water clean.

When I was buying my water fountain for my cats, I saw in the comments that someone else recommended this product to cut to size for very effective water filters that save a ton of money compared to buying filters. Well, I jumped on that and ordered it because filters are so expensive and they’re usually such a rip off. For the cat fountain, it’s really just to keep cat hair and impurities from being sucked back into the water pump, so carbon isn’t necessary. The filters that came with the pump were terrible and I could see that they have two tiny pieces of this kind of stuff inside, showing tha the actual filtering part of the filter was minuscule. I cut this pad into 51 filters for my cat fountain, as you can see in the photo, and they are great. This entire pad cost me $15.49 and if I had bought the filters that are made for it, it would cost me $85. !!!!!! 😮 It was super easy to cut them with large scissors. It’s just woven plastic so it’s very easy to cut through and I didn’t have to do a cardboard template or anything. I just held the fabric up to the filter container on the lid of the fountain and cut it to match. Super easy, super fast, super cheap, super good, super duper, super trooper. I rarely write reviews, but this is such a great tip that a review gave to me and saves me money, so I wanted to give that to others as well. ✌🏻

Using it in my aquarium as its cheaper to cut squares of this than buy branded filters every month. Works well. Fish are fine.

I've ordered this filter media in that past and have used it in both my Marineland and Aquaclear HOB units for at least 3 years. What I like about this particular media is that is is much more economical to use vs. drop in filter pad/carbon/plastic strainer type filter pads. State the obvious right? But THIS particular filter pad stands up to multiple wash and wring out cycles better by far than other filter pad materials I've tried. It does not seem to get damaged easily and lose its shape and fluff as quick as other types pads I've used. How do I use this? I take the old standard plastic filter housings that have one side filter material, carbon, then plastic, and cut off the old filter pad. Then, I'll take two of those plastic parts that are left over, and place one of these bonded filter pads in between, and slot that filter sandwich down into my HOB filter. Works extremely well with a gravel media basket in a stack. Or, I'll simply cut to fit the pad and put several into the Aquaclear HOB filter stack (if you have one you will know what I mean). Do I recommend this particular brand? Yes. No questions asked. Its just as economical on a square inch basis as any other pad you will find, does an excellent job filtering your water, and lasts surprisingly longer for reuse.
