Marcell temperature monitor is outstanding, as is their Customer Service! Our dogs are like our children, and this monitor gives us peace of mind when we have to leave them in our RV or car.If there's a power failure or the temp falls out of the range we set (too hot, too humid, too cold), we quickly get an alert! We opted for text alerts, but you can also get email and call alerts, and it doesn't rely on wifi. It's a small CELLULAR based unit with battery backup -- critically important during power failures! It does require a subscription for alerts but it's all handled through Marcell. (We did not have to call a cell company or get a sim card.)It also has a probe that lets you monitor your refrigerator or freezer. The monitor plugs into any standard outlet or you can purchase their USB adapter. (The end of the USB cord that plugs into the monitor is round, so if you plan on powering it by USB, you need their cord.)We've been using our monitor for about 2-1/2 years and had our first issue last month when it wouldn't power on.I called Marcell and was delighted that a real person, Heather, answered! (Honestly, I was dreading the typical never-ending umpteen menu options & subsequent dead holds that are sadly so common today.) Kudos to Marcell for caring about their customers!Heather was clear, friendly and professional. After a few questions, she said they were sending us a new monitor right away! The new monitor arrived quickly and included a pre-paid return label to send our old monitor back for diagnostics so they can continue to improve their products.I don't often do reviews & I realize this is long winded, but it was worth the time and effort to share my experience with a great product from a Company with the integrity to stand behind it!Highly recommended!

It works. I mean--I feel like that's a low bar to ask for, but given most of the other products in this category it's not insubstantial that it works and it works well. Power goes out? My phone goes buzz. So well, in fact, that when I tested the system by unplugging it my wife called me almost immediately, "Check the fridge!"Well done. The software is like a Frankenstein mess out of the 90s. Some of the UX is so bad you almost can't tell when you've turned something on or off. I understand they're trying to keep the code simple, but that can be achieved without also making it the UI indecipherable.

This product has already been a huge lifesaver for me! I bought my MarCELL in December w/ enough SPucks to cover each bathroom and my laundry room. My house is in NH, so fear of my furnace shutting down and the pipes freezing up is a major concern. I work for the Navy and am gone for months at a time so even though I have the house checked weekly, when something goes wrong it happens fast. I got on the computer to check my email (from the middle of the Pacific Ocean) and received low temperature alerts from the MarCell back home. I also had an email from my oil company letting me know they had gone over and replaced a clogged nozzle in my boiler and reset the system. And finally, an email from my mother to let me know she had gone over to check in and everything was back up and the house was back to 60F like I had set it a month ago before leaving for work (I set up my notifications and phone calls for 55F on the MarCELL). Needless to say, everyone who needed to be notified was and by the time I awoke and checked my email, all was taken care of! I logged into sensoredlife.com and could see the slow drop in temp, the warnings issued and the temperature now stabilized at 60F once more. The unit only updates the website every 8 hours (3 times daily) but, it will update immediately when an alarm threshold is reached. I purchased some additional one time updates as well to monitor it closely as the temperature came back up. It was only $2 for 8 updates (basically the $0.25 per message x 8 updates AT&T charges sensoredlife to update outside of my subscription). I tested the SPucks as well before leaving and each one immediately updated on their website and issued its alerts saying where water had been detected. One of my units would not register though, and I received an email back half an hour later from the company and everything was all taken care of. I have to say, from the opposite side of the world, this system gives me peace of mind and I truly trust it! A total of $300 for my MarCELL and SPucks and $150 for a weekend furnace service call is way less money and hassle than dealing iwth my insurance company over water damage. So basically, it has already paid for itself and I will be at ease knowing my home is monitored anytime I am on a ship or leaving my home for the weekend when on vacation. Great product, highly recommended! (And yes, I wrote this review from my ship as well haha. Cheers from the West Pacific!)

This works perfectly in our vacation home in the Poconos. We have security cameras and nest thermostat but they all rely on the internet. So when they go offline we don't know if internet is just out or if power is out and we should worry about the heat being off and potentially pipes freezing. This works over the cellular network with battery back up and will immediately notify you of a power outage or a temp above or below limits you select. We were a bit worried since we don't get a good cell signal in our area. No voice calls come through - only texting works, but this device worked immediately. We set it up at home where we have a good cell single, then we just plugged it in at our other house. Worked immediately. Service costs $99/year or you can pay monthly (Slightly higher). It only records the temp and humidity in a history log every 8 hours but will notify immediately of deviations or power outages. If you want an instant read on Temp and Humidity it will cost you 25 cents per instant check (you buy in packs of 8 for $2). But we haven't needed it. We Love this device! (Also we got the version with the SPuck which will alert us of water so we put that in our basement near the sump pump).
