These taps worked great once we got them to the right depth for each tree. Having the drill bit included was what made me choose this over others, and I am glad I did.

This was a great little kit to tap maple sap, it was clean and simple and worked perfectly. So much better than the old bucket method, no insects, a very sanitary way to gather sap.

It had all I need besides a food grade bucket to get started. The kids enjoyed this and we all look forward to using all the taps next year. We only used two this year and we got about 7 gallons of sap before it was time to pull them. The instructions that came with it were fantastic. We made 24oz total of syrup. We are aiming for a gallon of this liquid gold next year. You will need a few more things to finish the syrup like a candy thermometer and some filters. I tried using coffee filters but that didn't really work. I ended up using the coffee filters to filter the sap only. Once it starts thickening up I used a ss mesh filter but this is not ideal and doesn't catch everything. But for personal use the syrup looks and tastes great.

I have one, big sugar maple. Thought it would be fun to try making a little maple syrup. Thought I might, maybe get possibly 10 gallons of sap over the course of the season. SURPRISE! I did two tap holes, these things popped right in. I drained them into a 6 gallon water tote. How about 6 total days of tapping, 29 gallons of sap collected. FIrst boil went great, will begin the next boil tomorrow. Pulled the taps and plugged the holes as I have no intention of this becoming a business. Boy does the syrup taste good!!! Oh yeah, boiling down, outside on a large, woodfired bbq grill. About 8 hours per session. These are great!

First time maple tree tapper here, and this kit worked great. My five year old wanted to do this and I didn't want to spend too much money in case it didn't work but it did! We used the kit to tap our two large silver maples in our backyard. I used empty gallon plastic jugs to catch the sap and we got about 5 gallons in less than a week of collecting (we are in NY and had a pretty mild winter). Just be careful not to tap the spiles in too hard or the whole will crack and the sap will drip down the tree as opposed to into the tube. Learned the hard way but was able to redrill a couple more holes since our tree are so big. We plan on using the kit again next year!
