It takes a bit of getting used to in finding that sweet spot where the blades engage with the coffee beans. But once I got it, I've had no issues. The product feels really heavy duty which is great to know if I ever take it with me camping.

This coffee grinder is ABSOLUTELY the 5 stars it has. It is incredibly sturdy, has a GREAT aesthetic, five-ginder setting, and for the first time our coffee doesn't taste burnt like our electric grinder makes it! Hand ground coffee is so much smoother, rich, and satisfying. I don't think I can go back. 10/10 recommend THIS coffee grinder! Wow!

Coffee snobs know that the gold standard of coffee grinders is the conical burr grinder because it produces the most uniform grounds. This grinder adds to that its ability to use just about anywhere since you don't need electricity or even a battery—just your own two hands.Pros: extremely well made from high-quality materials. No plastic (if that's something you're trying to avoid), your fresh ground coffee is collected in a glass receptable. Fairly lightweight (considering the materials). Doesn't require brute force strength (just some patience).Cons: kind of small capacity. I weigh my coffee to the gram and in this case I found that the chamber could hold approximately one cup of coffee's worth of beans. And, while the grinding motion is not strenuous, it does take quite some time to grind a whole cup of coffee's worth of beans (like, start boiling your water, start grinding, and hopefully you're done grinding by the time your water is ready). But it's worth it. Anecdotally I felt like the cup of coffee produced by a conical burr grinder was superior to my electric grinder. If you have the time and the patience, or if your environment dictates the need for an analog grinder, this is the one for you!

This grinder presents in a gift worthy box. It also comes with a small instruction booklet. Do NOT follow the instructions. They do not work. The grinder is not that complicated but because it was made in China the higher the number you dial in the finer the grind size. Also there's something in there about a 3-6 month deep cleaning using a brush and a balloon. The brush is included but unfortunately the balloon is not. Nor is there a diagram or description of this process. The entire grinder is made of metal except the wood handle knob. It feels like good quality. I inspected for plastic and did not find any plastic components which is great. I was able to grind fine enough for a proper espresso double shot. It takes a long time to grind espresso but coffee is a pretty quick grind. Just keep in mind that you'll need to dump the catch before completion if you fully load the bean cylinder. The grinder is capable of grinding even finer than the espresso setting I dialed in but I'm afraid it would take an hour to grind a dose any finer. The finer you grind the longer it takes. My espresso setting takes me about 4 minutes. The conical burs are stainless steel and give a good feedback while grinding. I chose the metal canister instead of the glass view version. I can tell when the beans are finished grinding from the feedback feel of the burs. The action is smooth and not tiresome unless you go too fine in your setting. Fortunately my espresso setting is just on the non tiresome side of the grind settings. This is a good quality grinder for both coffee and espresso.

I have used similar grinders already and was happy with the opportunity to get another one. This is my first one with the glass bottom, before I've had the metal bottom. The glass bottom is nice in that you can see the output as it's going, but it's a little balky unscrewing from the barrel. I put some food-safe grease in the joint, just enough to cover, and now it spins on and off easily. That may accumulate coffee dust over time, but I like to grease things anyway. It shouldn't get into the grinder or the coffee I empty from the grinder. The container is big enough for the amount of coffee beans you can fit in the barrel to grind. Now for the good part. The shaft is exactly 1/4 inch hex. (Some competitors are smaller, but I can tell you that this one is truly 1/4 hex.) So I don't use the included handle with its lovely wooden knob. Instead, I run it with an impact driver. It never has enough resistance to trigger the impact function of the tool, and so it just spins that shaft at whatever speed I like. I fit the driver over the shaft, use one hand at the top of the barrel in case any beans spill out (they don't though) and operate the driver trigger with the other hand. In 10 or 20 seconds (I am in no hurry) it's all done, and it's a very uniform grind, great for espresso. This is important for me. I like to grind espresso, and I don't have the patience to grind espresso by hand. It truly takes a long time. I let the tool do the work. I've done this with a similar grinder I got about a year ago, and it's still going strong. My settings are espresso 4 clicks from left-lock, French press 16 clicks. If your espresso maker can handle, it's almost impossible to grind espresso too fine. The grinder can handle it. The mechanical parts are quality. Also, since the drill is quite separate from the grinder, there is no static electricity buildup in the ground coffee. In this way it's actually better than a more expensive electric conical burr grinder.

This grinder is sturdy and heavy but small. You can fit about 15-20g of beans in it but the end container seems to hold not much. Grinds well but might go best with a press

Coffe is so much better grinding it manually than with an electric grinder. Coffee tastes burnt when using electric grinder. The coffee taste smoother an fresh when using this manual grinder. It might take a little longer using it , but it's worth it.
