The 18V LXT® Compact One-Handed Recipro Saw (XRJ08Z) is a versatile cutting solution that combines variable speed and low vibration with the convenience of one-handed operation for faster and more efficient cutting.

The XRJ08 delivers 0 - 3,100 strokes per minute combined with a 7/8” stroke length for up to 55% faster cutting*. It offers a low-vibration design that reduces operator fatigue with up to 40% less vibration (when compared to model number XRJ07ZXB). The loop-shaped handle offers rigidity for improved cutting efficiency. It can perform Up to 90 cuts in 2x10 lumber, and up to 50 cuts in 1" schedule 80 steel pipe with a 5.0Ah battery installed (battery and charger sold separately).

The One-Handed Recipro Saw is engineered with a low-vibration design that features up to 40% less vibration**. The XRJ08 is equipped with a counterweight mechanism that contributes to lower vibration levels when cutting. Low vibration levels contribute to longer tool use time for the user.

Convenience features include a compact and ergonomic design of only 14-3/8” long making it ideal for working in tight spaces and overhead applications. To aid in reducing operator fatigue, the One-Handed Recipro Saw weighs only 5.5 lbs. (with battery, sold separately). It features a tool-less blade changing system to minimize downtime between blade changes. It has a built-in L.E.D. light that illuminates the workspace and a rubberized soft grip for increased comfort.

It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.

For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is a communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging, and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT® and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

This thing is just really handy. Basically, it's a powered jab saw, except it cuts wood and metal instead of drywall and it doesn't plunge. Much handier than a regular repo saw, and easier and safer than trying to use one one-handed. With a 5ah battery the balance is good.Someone mentioned that the foot didn't have much adjustment, but to me it's fine. I don't want a foot that's going to wobble around too much or worse, fall off. This one doesn't move much but it's not coming off. This isn't a precision woodworking tool...it's for construction or demo, or just when you need a one handed saw, and for all of those things it's very handy.

I own a LOT of Makita battery tools. My old 21 year old battery Makita recip saw finally died.Changing battery powered tools manufacturers is expensive due to battery and charger cost so that was out. This new Makita arrived and I like the fact that it’s very light, compact and brushless. it does NOT come with a belt hook or a carry bag. I can’t even find a part number for the belt hook on the Makita site or Google.I located and bought a pair of ala carte Makita hooks from Amazon for $7 because I use the belt hook very frequently. It’s irritating that at $170 price point the hook isn’t included. The shoe around the blade is NOT removable or adjustable which is really lame.Sometimes the shoe is in the way of an obstruction, gets bent, damaged or lacks enough articulation and it needs to be removed or replaced. Not happening with this saw.Third, this thing is made in China. I checked around and almost every recip saw, even most of the fancy high end German recip saws are Chinese made.I located a nearly new corded Skilsaw 13 amp recip saw on eBay with a detachable foot and tool bag.So when I need light weight and speed of use, I have the Makita from Amazon and when I need a powerhouse recip saw, I have the Skilsaw “Buzzkill” model that cost me $50.But for $170, this Makita saw should be a LOT better.

Love Makita cordless power tools. The Recipro Saw has plenty power and easy to use. Had to replace my old saw and decided to try the cordless one. Totally satisfied

Having used this Makita 18V Brushless Recipro saw for a couple of hours at three different locations I am totally satisfied with the results. I considered a 6" chainsaw but it looked a bit unsafe for a first time user so I opted for this unit which appeared to be much safer, especially with the blade guide and loop-shaped handle guard. I never used more than 50% of my 5.0Ah battery during the two hours of use. It may not cut as fast as a chainsaw but I considered risk of safety vs. reward of quickness of time. The cuts were all very clean.SAFETY FIRST!!!I recommend that the user Remove the Battery prior to all Blade changes. Always wear gloves and eye protection.

Now even sure if any other major brand makes something like it. It can easily be operated with one hand while at the same time having a long blade.

Just what you would expect from Makita!Strong, durable, and balanced. I use this mainly for PVC pipe cutting. It's cliche but it cuts like a hot knife through butter, lol.Just being able to have a free hand available while cutting is priceless. All of my 18v batteries fit perfectly. I'm tempted to by a spare since it was priced so we'll. Definitely a good investment!

Oh, let me regale you with the epic tale of my encounter with the Makita Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Compact One-Handed Reciprocating Saw! This tool, my friends, is not just a saw; it's a magical wand that transforms mundane tasks into a whimsical journey of cutting delight.Firstly, let's talk about weight – or should I say, lack thereof? This saw is as light as a feather on a diet! I half-expected it to float away like a helium balloon when I first picked it up. It's like the unicorn of power tools, granting me the power to effortlessly wield it with the grace of a seasoned ninja.Maneuverability? It's like the Michael Jordan of the power tool world. I can practically dance around obstacles with this bad boy. I felt like a fencing maestro, gracefully parrying and thrusting my way through the toughest materials. PVC pipes quivered in fear as I approached, knowing their fate was sealed by the Makita's brushless brilliance. Now, let's discuss the cutting action – it's smoother than a jazz saxophonist sliding into a sultry riff. I sliced through pipes like a hot knife through butter, and PVC practically begged for mercy under the gentle touch of this reciprocating maestro. It's so smooth, I'm convinced it moonlights as a barber in its spare time.Battery life? It's like a marathon runner on an energy drink diet. I embarked on a cutting spree that would make Paul Bunyan blush, and the Makita didn't break a sweat. It's like the Energizer Bunny, but with more finesse and less drum-banging.And the noise! Or should I say lack thereof? This saw is quieter than a library during a power nap. I half-expected to hear a hushed "shhh" every time I revved it up. My neighbors probably thought I was practicing the art of silent sawing meditation. In conclusion, the Makita Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Compact One-Handed Reciprocating Saw is not just a tool; it's a symphony conductor orchestrating the most melodious cuts in the power tool repertoire. It's so good; I almost feel guilty not paying for tickets to watch its performance. Bravo, Makita, bravo!
