We purchased this Makita sliding compound miter saw Model #LS0815F and it was delivered on June 2 2022. It was purchased in anticipation of installing new flooring. We did not take it out of the box until August 19th 2022 when the boxes of new flooring arrived at our home. It ran nicely and we started cutting and installing our new floors. Then on the third day I saw some metal pieces drop on the ground. Now the blade guard will not retract as you lower the arm down to cut pieces of wood. I called Amazon but it is out of the return window. So now we have to box up the Makita Slide Compound Miter Saw ( IT must be prepaid freight) at our expense and ship it back to Makita for a repair or replacement at Makita's option. I guess we should have waited until we had the flooring to buy the Makita Model LS0815F Sliding Compound Miter Saw but who would have thought that an expensive saw would have pieces already fatigued and breaking after 200 square feet of wood flooring! On a positive note , we did like the slow start and the electric brake features and it cut nicely with the new diablo 60 tooth blade we bought from Home Depot. We will have to go buy another saw from Home Depot so that we can finish our flooring installation. We will have to box this Makita Sliding Compound Miter Saw up and send it to Makita for the repairs. We can NOT recommend this saw because parts fatigue and failure after a couple days of use!

I own multiple slide miters. This is the only small one, it is by far my favorite and the most versatile and easy to use. I believe mine is now 6 years old. So I’m not reviewing a shiny new toy. This saw gets worked daily for everything from pvc to furniture crown and does all well. With the exception of really fine finish work and the occasional large piece, you could own this saw and nothing else.

I have owned multiple sliding miter saws over the years and find this to be among the best. It’s very accurate, very smooth running, (sweet soft start!). I have the larger Mikita 10-inch saw in my shop and purchased this smaller unit to transport to the job site. I’m very satisfied with the saw. Mikita has a better dust collection solution for its larger saws. It would be nice to have better dust collection on this saw as well, (but that’s a small thing) ... this is a very good machine.

This is a great size for most trim work, and the saw is nice and light as sliders go. Mine was accurate out of the box. I have a couple of minor criticisms. (1) The location of the tilt gauge is a little awkward. (2) The trenching depth stop is kind of primitive. You definitely need to do test cuts with this one. My major criticism is that the dust collection on this saw is useless. I improved it a little with a cardboard dust catcher behind the saw, but that obscures the angle gauge. That cost it a star for me.

Absolutely LOVE this saw! Cuts like a champ, feels great while using it, the dust system actually does a pretty good job of catching a majority of the dust, and the gauge was right on. I took a square piece of MDF, cut each side off 3 times while spinning it in a circle or turning it over after each cut, and every corner was within .01 of perfect, or perfect, which is more than good enough for me as a hobbyist! A few have complained that the stops are a little loose. I can see that they could definitely be tighter, but if you use the indicator and tighten it down with the indicator held right where you want it it's dead on for me. Might not be good enough for a pro who constantly goes back and forth between angles and doesn't want to take the extra 3 seconds to line up the indicator with the mark but it's A ok for me. Highly recommended!

So far very nice saw. I've only used it for studding a wall so far but it seems to be well made and it arrived with the 90 degree cut being 90 degrees (no adjustment required). I wanted a light (portable) saw with a slide to cut a 45 on something larger than a 2x4; had an automatic brake and a laser guide. The saw did not come with a laser but I bought "Oshlun LG-M01 Miter and Portable Saw Laser Guide" from Amazon and it fit; was easy to install and works flawlessly indicating the left edge of the saw blade. I read many reviews on other saws and almost every saw has a review criticizing the dust bag. This one is weighted along the entire length of the bottom to help keep it open when it is empty and straight as it fills. I can say it collects a lot more dust than is left on the table. Before buying I could not easily find where this saw was made but it is made in China according to the box for anybody who is curious.

This saw hit all the sweet spots I needed.- 12 inch cross cut capacity- Lightweight- PreciseAnd its affordableWhile the saw lacks a double bevel or positive stops on the bevel Makita provides a chart for cutting crown molding using the single bevel. The purchase of a Wixel Angle Gauge is a good compliment to any saw where the blade will be titled (regardless of positive stops). The only issue I really had with the saw is that the bevel gauge is directly under the sliders making it hard to read angle settings accurately. This is where a 3rd party digital angle gauge comes in handy and is going to be more precise than any popular tool makers "positive" stops. For the contractor doing trim or finish carpentry, this is the saw to get. At 30 pounds its easy to relocate from a truck to the job site and can be moved around from room to room with ease.Hobbyists and home owners will appreciate the large accurate cross cut for decks, shelving, molding, etc.Save your back and your wallet and get this versus a 10 inch sliding miter.
