Working with cedar for outdoor chairs. Need to cover up screw holes. This bit works like a charm. Just be aware that these plugs are tapered and only go in one way. Make sure you have correct size for the screws you are using.. This bit makes a 8mm/ 0.31” plug

Better quality than the cheap Chinese cutters. I tried the Chinese ones but in the end you get what you pay for.

I am reinstalling the heart pine flooring in my 120 year old home. But I am screwing it down with No 1 sq hd trim screws. I bought a 5/16" c'bore for the flooring and I am cutting plugs to fill the c'bores with this tool. I bought a few option as I have cut 1500 plugs. This plug cutter works the best with the chamfer it adds at the bottom of the plug. And the 4 flutes cut cleaner than the other option I had which only had 2 cutting edges. I ended up with 2 of these bits and they are my preferred options. I run my drill press at ~1000 rpms. I can get about 200-300 plugs from a fresh bit. Well that would be a little cost prohibitive to buy this tool for 300 plugs. I'm no expert but I have sharpened drill bits on my angle grinder to get by in a pinch. What I have been doing is after 250 plugs I sharpen the bottom cutting face (circled in the pic) about 10 times on a flat file. Nothing fancy just find the right angle and a little pressure then drag towards you. Do this for each of the 4 legs and your back in business. Having 2 bits is not a bad idea as you can't really just cut 300 plugs and sharpen it and go back to work. The bit will be too hot. I have 2 bits and rotate them thru. Don't be a hero and cut 500 plugs. The cutting edge will be so rounded you'll have a hard time getting it back. How could I possibly know this? I thought this was going to be a herculean effort, but I've spent probably 3 days, cutting plugs, gluing/pounding them in and shaving them flush. I think I can cut maybe 300 plugs in an hour (no more than 2 hours) and I mean cut them all in a board, then chip them out, and fill up my little plastic bucket. There may be better options out there like a carbide tipped plug cutter but this works for me.

I was questioning the longevity of this.. but after 600 or so plugs it’s still sharp and cuts great! WELL worth the money ✌🏼

Recently I purchased 8 plug cutters for only slightly more than this single 5/16" Snappy Plug Cutter. (2 types in 4 sizes not including 5/16" - Rocaris 8pcs Wood Plug Cutter Drill Bit Set Straight and Tapered Taper 5/8" 1/2" 3/8" 1/4" Cutting Tool Cork Drill Bit Knife). None of them were usable as shipped. I had to deburr and sharpen the one I needed, but I expected that after reading the reviews and luckily I am able to do it. Also (included in the reviews), they were metric rather than the fractional sizes in the description. In the process of sharpening it, I changed the plug size slightly anyway. For the nine 5/8" plugs I needed, it worked out fine - I thought. For the same project, I decided to make wood pulls for the 18 doors it would need. I wanted to include some ebony in the handles so I decided to add plugs to them. Turned out 1/4" was too small and 3/8" too big so I needed a 5/16" plug cutter. Since the 1/4" cutter I just bought was really 6mm (and a POS) I tried to grind it to 5/16. Getting all four "teeth" on the bit ground the same proved too challenging. After wasting a lot of time I gave up and ordered this snappy 5/16 plug cutter. What a difference! When I removed it from it's plastic case (instead of loose in a plastic bag with 7 other cutters) it was beautiful, sharp, and ready to use. You can see what's left of the ebony after getting the plugs I needed. No problem cutting into the edges of previous holes to save a little ebony. Never had to re-clamp the ebony. The plugs are tapered perfectly so the top end (as cut) goes in easily and the bottom snugs up just slightly above the surface. Couldn't be more satisfied. The Rocaris plug cutters are going in the trash and the next time I need one, I will be buying it from Snappy Tools!

Worked just fine. You do need to use a drill press and make sure you control any wobble. The size is very accurate.
