I have several American mah jongg mats, but this was my first with pockets. It actually drapes over your table (the corners of the table remain exposed) and the pockets hang in front of each player. The pockets are convenient to store cards, line markers, dice….I like them!! What I didn’t like about this mat was #1 The Color—-The first picture in the ad shows a light blue mat, but I received the light mottled gray one depicted in subsequent pics. I think it looks rather drab. #2 The Material—-All of the other mats I have are in a silky thick material that lays heavily on the table, but this mat has a felt texture and is fairly lightweight. Some people might prefer this, but not me.It does not, however, bother me that the corners of my 32” square table are exposed, but some people might not like that. The pictures show the mat on a table that must be significantly smaller than 32”.
