Chess is two players, one with a white, one with a black.
The chess board is a square,consisting of 64 small squares, each with 8 vertical and horizontal colors.
A total of 34 pieces of our chess set, including 2 extra queens for pawn promotion rules. Divided into two group of black and white, by each side of the chess player holding a group, each 16.
- Chessmen are magnetic and stick well to the board.
- Chessboard folds in half, with an internal storage foam slots for the pieces that avoid losing pieces.

Great quality, travels well. My son loves to play chess, and this was his Christmas present. After Christmas, we took it with us on an out-of-state road trip. He and our daughter had a blast playing chess in the hotel on a rainy day. They could even play it in the car while we were driving because the pieces are magnetic.

The set we received fortunately had no damage, poor staining or scratches etc. Everything looks great, wood is smooth and stain looks good. Size is what we expected. When opened up the latches will hang long and not lay flat against the box but actually lie on the table. I'd put a cloth or something down as the two halves do not have any felt or anything just straight wood and will slide on the table. The pieces fit snuggly in the spongy material inside. Magnets work well except for the kings which are heavier. Great chess set especially for the money.

This chessboard is of very high quality. It folds in half to store all of the pieces inside! The board has magnets so the pieces won't fall off easily. You have to really try to make them fall. It also comes with 2 extra queens, in case of a promotion. Quality-of-life things like that are what make this board amazing!

In 2023 we taught ourselves how to play Backgammon. In 2024 we taught ourselves how to play Skip Bo and other card games. For 2025 we decided to learn the game of Chess. This set is a nice size; the pieces have a good weight to them and feels good in the hand; magnets offer perfect adhesion to board without making them difficult to move. Even if I were already skilled at the game, this would be a nice set at a very good price. Fits well in our games travel case too. We will enjoy it for years to come. Shalom.

This is a quality chess set. I am impressed by the quality of wood and the fact that the board is even, not like a previous board I bought off Amazon. Also, the magnets are very strong and keep the pieces in place. You can lift this board upside down and the pieces wouldn't fall. Great for travel as well. Great chess set.

Great board overall, the finish on the board feels great, the pieces just glide across. The magnets help with the stability of the pieces so that they're not falling over at the slightest bump. It's not too strong either where you would be lifting up the whole board when you lift up a piece, the strength of the magnet is just perfect. I love the overall design, how the shapes have a slot for storage instead of just piling all the pieces in. Overall 10/10 chess set, I love the extra queens.

I like the look and the wood is smooth. The storage is nice as well. The lines aren't perfect when you look close but it's a nice set and good price.

looks great and the pieces are quite nice to play with. the magnets are handy and not so strong that pieces are drawn together while you're playing. being able to store the pieces in their own snug form fit container in the board is great instead of having them roll around loose in there

very nice looking, seems well made, good workmanship. pieces seem to stay on board, magnets just right strength. don't know about durability yet, bought as gift for an 8 year old.

My 9 year old has expressed an interest in playing chess regularly, so it was time for a new set. After playing for a few days this is my assessment.Delivery was next day and super convenient.Packaging. The original box is nice, I'll keep the board in that until I find a sling bag for it.The board itself. The finish on our particular board was nice and smooth. Joints were tight fitting and clean. I hope the hinges and locks can handle a 9 year old, we'll see. Overall size was great, plenty of room on the board.The chess pieces were in great condition, OK detail, no splits in the wood and the coloration was consistent among the pieces. The magnets worked as pictured. My only potential concern with the pieces themselves is the felt bottoms. Will have to look for thin felt if replacement is needed. Thicker felt may hamper magnet effectiveness. The chess piece storage foam is nice and firm, and the the pieces fit extremely well.Instructions are appropriate for beginner level.For the price, I think this is a fantastic first chess set for a younger player. I know we will enjoy it for some time to come.

What a very nice chess set for the price. Everything seems to be high quality and functional. I am really impressed with the magnetic feature, it's somewhat intriguing. The chess pieces hold well on the board, and if you try to use another magnetic object, like a refrigerator magnet (checking the magnetism of the board itself), some are very weak or won't work at all. However, every magnetic chess piece holds excellent ! Even holding the board upside down! The hinges and hasps are very good and the 2 little latches are like a small bullet catch to kinda snap lock in place so they don't fall open. The storage compartment also is very good in holding and keeping the pieces in place do when it is opened, they won't fall out, providing you put the pieces in their proper spot properly. The felt on the bottom of the pieces are excellent for the protection of the board and lifting off the board easily making a move. The chess pieces are very well made and finished with no sharp edges or roughness. The weight of the set was surprisingly of very good weight, so if you play in a vehicle, it will stay in place with no problem. This is a fantastic chess set for any skill level, to include the excellent portability! I highly highly recommend this chess set !
