Don’t purchase for an amphibian tank. I bought this for my tiny bumblebee toad, and unfortunately the mesh smells toxic, even after airing it out 5 days. Also the glue on the magnetic strips smells very strong. I don’t feel comfortable using this in his tank as the smell would stay stuck inside and would harm him, especially with them absorbing so much through their skin. It might be great for an aquarium but I also wonder about the toxicity effect for the water nearby. Hopefully they can come out with a less toxic kit sometime. Other than that, the kit had everything in it and everything seemed to function as it should, saying that without having fully assembled it.

Aggravating to assemble but looks good and seems to serve it’s purpose once you get it together. Price is a bit high, though.

Worked at first but gonna switch to a solid top as our kittens like to walk across and lay on it and it doesn't hold

I had a tank that I had no lid for and also needed to send some tubes into. This was the perfect option for me. By having a magnetic mesh top, I can snip out the holes I need easily and not worry about my critters getting out. It was relatively easy to install and is great for oddly shaped or sized tanks to make a custom lid.

This kit was perfect for what I needed. I have an open air tank that I wanted something to provide a little protection but didn't want to invest in a costly fix. This magnetic fish tank cover was exactly what I needed. I love that I was able to customize it to fit my tank. The directions were a little confusing but once I figured those out, it was a piece of cake. I was pleasantly surprised at how well this product accomplished what I needed.

I had an issue with crickets escaping from my daughter’s frog tank. This was easy to install (about 10 minutes) and has been working great for weeks.

This is a multi-part setup - there's a base magnetic strip layer you lay around the top of your aquarium (or around the top edge if you're setting it up to attach on the sides instead of the top lip, a grooved strip magnetic strip that goes on the undersize of the screen, some screen mesh, and a top grooved strip that's flat along the side facing up.Having a pair of nippers handy when I set this up was the single most helpful thing I did, and I highly recommend you have a pair of those handy for yourself. You can cut it with scissors, but it was a lot easier to use the nippers. Side-cut pliers would work as well. There's a bit of shifting around and playing with tension before you feel like things are settled, and it took me about half an hour from start to finish, working alone. I'm pleased with the results, though, and I'm also glad that the mesh is a wider-holed mesh than the typical "screen door" like mesh that many other lids have. That way you can specially accommodate for your various tubes and cords, but I found that the magnetic edges are a great way to keep the tubes and cords in place by themselves - it's not heavy enough to squish them into a state of not working, but it's strong enough to hold them still where I want them.Originally I wasn't sold on this lid, but I really do like the finished result.
