First off, the magnets on this aquarium cleaner are seriously strong. One side has a hook-like texture similar to Velcro, while the other side is soft and smooth, almost like microfiber. While this is designed for fish tanks, I actually tried using it to clean the inside of my car windows, especially in those hard-to-reach spots near the dashboard, and it worked surprisingly well! The magnetic strength is impressive—it sticks firmly to both sides of the glass, making cleaning super efficient. Occasionally, the magnets separated when moving too quickly, but once I figured out the right pace, that wasn’t an issue. A cool bonus is that it cleans both the inside and outside of the glass at the same time, so you don’t have to guess where streaks are coming from. For aquarium use, I can’t say for sure how well it scrapes algae, but it seems strong enough to do the job. The Velcro-like material might let some slime slip through, but you could easily wrap a cloth around it for a more customized clean. The plastic casing looks nice and feels good, though I do wonder if it might crack if dropped from a decent height. Not a deal-breaker, but something to keep in mind. Overall, this is a powerful and versatile cleaning tool! What I Reviewed: Magnetic Aquarium Fish Tank Glass Cleaner - Exquisite & Super Strong Magnetism, Double Side Floating Algae Scraper Cleaning Tools for 0.1 to 0.7 Inch Glass Tanks (XL)

As other reviewers have pointed out, this cleaner is surprisingly thick and powerful. My husband and I have two fishtanks, and this will definitely be taking over as a cleaner for the community tank where we get the most algae buildup (fewer snails and no plecos vs the cichlid tank). The magnet is strong and holds very well! The only thing we ran into with the scraper is that it initially looked like it scratched the inside of the glass on our tank. Our tank glass is slightly curved and so we have never used any kind of abrasive scraper on it. We thought this one would be fine because it was plastic, but initially it left marks. The marks rubbed off with some force, thankfully - at least it looks like they did - but we can't recommend scraping curved tanks just in case.

This little algae cleaner is so easy to use and such a game changer! I have 36 gallon bowfront tank and despite frequent cleanings and the presence of snails in my tank, I still get some algae buildup over time. I have used a handheld algae scraper, but then I’m sticking my whole arm into the tank and I know that’s not great for my fish or their environment. I’ve had magnetic algae scrapers in the past, but none that worked nearly as well as this one works. I think it is the addition of that little scraper blade on the “front” of the magnet that really gets all of the algae off the tank. Also, because I have large structures and plants in my tank, using a handheld scraper, it isn’t always possible or convenient to get around the rocks and plants. With the magnetic scraper, I can get everywhere and get all the algae off the sides—even in the tight spots.I ordered the “mini” size scraper after a good amount of research before placing my order. Make sure to order the size that is appropriate to the thickness of the glass in your tank. I looked up my tank on the manufacturer’s website and found out how thick the glass was and I’m glad I did, because had I ordered a larger size, the magnet might’ve been much too strong. I don’t think it would have been strong enough to break the glass, but I’m not willing to take that chance. Again, I have a 36 gallon bowfront tank and the mini did a fantastic job of cleaning it in a relatively short amount of time. The other nice benefit of this small algae scraper is that it easily cleaned the curved part of my bowfront tank. That is something that I’ve always struggled with when using a handheld scraper. If I have any criticisms of this product at all, it is that the instructions were a little difficult to understand when it came to attaching the scraper to the magnet. I tried a couple of different ways before I figured it out, but it really only took me a couple of minutes. Everything else about this is fantastic. I only wish I had thought to take before and after photos. The difference was a little astonishing.

This medium size FishKeeper Magnetic Aquarium Glass Cleaner is just what the doctor ordered. The other one I had, a different brand, fell apart. It was small but did the job. Now the FishKeep came on board, all bets were off. Who knew aquarium glass cleaning could be so satisfying.Straight out of the box I put it to work. I thought it might be too big for a 20 gallon tank but turned out just fine. It covers more space in a swipe which means less work. Octavia’s, my 3 yr old semi aquatic turtle, tank was an obsolete green hairy mess of algae. This Rambo tool scrubbed it all off in no time. The coarseness of the inside fibers were efficient enough where I didn’t need to use the accompanying ‘razor’ scrap attachment. The outside component is covered in a solid velvety material that polishes the outside glass as the inside is being scraped clean. The tool goes around corners just fine remaining attached. In fact the magnetic bond was so strong I had to deliberately with force separate them so I could see how well it floated for retrieval. Well, I’ll tell you, it floated right up. The way that it’s designed, your fingers don’t even get wet when using this FishKeeper glass cleaning tool. This tool is no toy. It’s a heavy duty task master. So far, well worth the price point.
