I got this kit to play with my six-year-old grandson, and it was a big hit. It was easy to set up and use, though the directions could have been a bit more clear. (It says the creature only needs to be in the water for 3 seconds, but then much later it tells you that it should sit in the water for a least 10 minutes. Then it says if it stays in the water too long it begins to absorb the water and change shape. So how long is the right amount?) We learned the hard way that while the items pop loose from the mold in three seconds, they need to stay in the water mixture for a good 15 minutes to get solid. Even so, the final product isn't exactly something a kid could play with. It's more like something to look at and admire but not heavily interact with. So that's disappointing. On the other hand, creating the item is really fun and very satisfying. It reminds me of the old Thing Maker from Mattel (you can tell I'm no spring chicken!) in that you squeeze goop into a mold and it ends up as a rubbery, solid final product. Unlike the old Mattel toy, though, this one won't burn your hands and catch your house on fire! I did wonder about the safety of the water mixture, but there are no warnings about getting it on your hands, so we just washed well once we were done. Hope that was enough!Overall, we really enjoyed playing with this, though I do wish the final product was more durable. At least there's a nice choice of molds and goop colors, and the process allows for plenty of individual creativity. Very nice, but definitely not for younger than 5 or 6.

This is super fun, but it did not come with enough powder for the amount of liquid that is provided

These are very fun to play with! All six of my kids enjoyed them together. They made them very quickly. It would be nice if it came either more of the colored tubes. There are a lot, but you can use it all up the first time around because you can reuse the water mixture you make; it actual last 2-3 days if you cover it! And it comes with 3 packs of the chemicals. These toys are very easy and fun to make! Basically you squirt the fluid into the molds as desired, then mux 1 liter (about 4 cups) warm water with a packet of the chemicals in the included bin, then place the filled molds a few at a time in the fluid, shake free after only a few seconds and let them sit and dwell up a bit. They are not solid to the touch per say, and you have to handle them very gently or they will explode, but it’s a great hands-on activity or experiment that everyone of us enjoyed doing together. It’s important to note: You cannot play with them they are basically only decorative, and you have to keep them in a glass jar. We used mason jars, and each of my kids made them. I lost track of how many “water fairies” they each made, but it was a lot! We used up more than 2/3 of the paints that make them the first time around. If your child is artistic, they can spend several minutes in each of theirs like my 5 year old did, but my 4 year old just really liked squirting it out of the bottles and making all his one solid color, so he made them much faster. These are great for all ages I even tried it out and it was fun to do. It was a really nice simple project to do together that made everyone happy.

Don't waste your money. Here is why. While my grandaughter enjoyed the process of filling the shapes, putting them in the solution, and taking them out, too often they did not turn out well. Furhtermore, all her efforts were shrunken to nearly nothing when the creations were not stored in water. This products looks like a lot of fun but is extremely disappointing.

We had fun making these. We transferred them to a bowl of regular water overnight and they got a little smaller, but more dense so you could actually pick them up and not break them. I wish you got more than 3 packs of the mixture stuff you pour into the water - 5 or 6 would be nice. Overall easy to do, fun, and can get creative.

I have bought a few other kinds of water elf and my 4 year old needed my help, but this one is very easy to use and instructions are easy to follow. The part that made my 4 year old extra excited is he could decorate a clear bottle with stickers and put all the ocean animals in there. The material is enough to do them at least 3 times. Good purchase.
