My wife and I purchased this unit a few months ago and it has worked like a charm. We are a couple of empty nesters so our laundry load isn't that much. We purchased a small imported washer a month or so previous to this purchase and it works a treat, but not having a yard to string up clothes lines we resorted to getting a couple of drying racks. That worked, but it also took up a lot of space. So we bit the bullet and got this dryer, as well as the rack it can sit on over our washer. We also purchased a duct kit so that we could duct the exhaust outside.Being a 120 volt appliance, it won't dry clothes as quickly as a full-sized dryer. This unit uses about 800 watts of power, or about as much as a hair dryer running on low. Don't let that fool you into thinking it doesn't get hot, it does, but it also moves a lot of air through the drum. Between the two it gets clothes very dry, it just takes longer. The machine arrived well packaged with lots of padding in a sturdy box. The machine is all metal except for the door and some smaller parts like the lint filter. That said, the drum is fairly small. A typical basket of clothes is easily two loads, maybe three.Because air moving through the machine is so important, you -must- clean the lint filter after every load. Fortunately, that is pretty easy, but it is something that must be done or it will just take that much longer to dry. I prefer to use a small brush to clean the filter rather than washing it with water.Overall, we are very happy with this purchase. Magic Chef is actually a fairly well respected name in small appliances like toaster ovens and such, so while it seems odd for a kitchen appliance company to make laundry machines, this is really right up their alley. We love not having to drive to the laundromat every week, and with the money saved from that, I expect this machine to pay for itself.

This dryer has been great so far!! As long as you understand its limitations, this is an awesome little dryer.QUICK PROS/CONS:Pros:- Quiet (sounds the same as a bathroom vent)- Cheap (haven't noticed a change in my electricity bill and I do laundry for two people)- Works well to dry (takes about 40min - 1.5hr to dry a load depending on fabric thickness and temperature)- Doesn't take up much spaceCons:- Cannot dry that many clothes at once which is understandable considering its size and it runs on a 120vI live in an apt and there is only one coin-operated washer and dryer for the five units in my complex. Someone doesn't use detergent to wash their clothes because the washer and dryer ALWAYS smell like dirty laundry/a metallic scent after they use it. The washer I can deal with - I just wash a load of white towels on extra hot with bleach killing the smell/germs, but anytime I dry any clothes in the dryer they all smell like dirty laundry/metal.I now dry all of my clothes/sheets/towels in this dryer. It actually keeps my clothes softer too than the regular dryer in my complex since it doesn't get too hot. Here are some tips:- Don't overload the dryer (I split up my clothes from one regular load of wash into 2-3 loads) While part of the load is drying in the dryer, I use a drying rack to hang the rest of the clothes so they can semi dry before going into the dryer- Separate clothes by thickness (dry all similar thin clothes together so they get an even dry and dry thick clothes with other thick clothes)- If it gets too hot (from using the hot setting too long) it will turn off until it cools down - let it be.. open a window and in less than an hour it should be good to go again.

What can I say? It does what it's designed to do and does it well considering it's size. It's quite the power saver using only a maximum of 850 watts which is less than the average hair dryer. It does have a high and low heat setting and according to my kill-a-watt, the low setting runs at about 500 watts. It does take a little longer than your average sized dryer but for those of us who don't have hookups or need something small due to space availability, it's an excellent choice. It's definitely not big enough for more than a few shirts, couple towels/jeans, etc but it's a lot better than stringing lines around your house to hang dry clothing or having to rely on communal laundry equipment. It's definitely a quiet unit and compliments the 0.9 cu.ft. Magic Chef washer I bought to go along with it quite nicely. The capacity of both units is close enough that a full load in the wash easily fits in this dryer. It's not speedy by any means, but the average load seems to dry within about 60-70 minutes if I start the timer at 200 minutes which is in the range of it's hottest setting. It fits the set of flannel sheets from my full size bed, and I would assume it would fit at least one sheet for a queen size if not both. The product description does omit that it includes a 3"-4" adapter which I purchased separately and didn't need. This adapter allows you to connect a standard 4" dryer hose directly to the unit which has a 3" exhaust opening. All in all, it's a great product that fits in the limited space I had available and now I can avoid having to worry about having quarters for laundry or having to wait for an available machine. One thing to note is that this dryer does not have an end of cycle buzzer which for me is a great feature since I live in a studio apartment and the location I had available is against a shared wall with another tenant. Without laundry hookups I didn't want to bring attention to the fact that I have it.The box I received the dryer in is a plain box with only the model printed on the front and rear, the box dimensions and weight. Inside the box there is another box for the dryer which does have both the model number which is the same printed on the exterior box as well as an outline imagine of the dryer and states "Compact Dryer". This made it very easy to bring in without bringing attention to what I actually had.All in all this is a great unit that seems to work well.
