Good value but not for novices. If you're a numbers, gadget geek, just forget about it .The good:a) It is really quiet, low noise making it suitable for shared environment like watching movies with husband.b) connects to my old, ANT+ Garminc) Small footprint, it folds nicely after usaged) The constant resistance simulates a gentle climb -and I can gear up or down to adjust effortsThe Bad :a) Bluetooth connection and manufacturer apps never worked; gave up after exchanging messages and videos with manufacturer and about 20 hours of troubleshootingb) although it connects and recognizes ANT+ sensors, it lacks accuracy. After Calibrating and re-calibrating several times, I just "train by ear" , monitoring effort and using my other sensors to stay in the right zone.

Rodillo working class

After finally having this up and running I can say it’s great for exercise. I haven’t tried the Bluetooth connectivity: not that bothered about telemetry or metrics, just trying to work up a sweat. It wasn’t a breeze to set up, but admittedly that is due to my own total lack of bike knowledge. You cannot use a freewheel on this, you need a cassette. (I didn’t know there was a difference). Anyway, it’s sturdy and portable. It is pretty quiet, but obviously you will have your own drivetrain noise on top which is more than you think. Recommend.

So first off, I'm not a professional athlete. I ride a good bit of mountain bike in the summer, but always fall behind with my training during the winter. Especially during the pandemic, I needed something to get me going.I'm not willing to spend $1000 plus on a bike trainer that I might not use frequently, so I decided to give this one a go. So far, I've really enjoyed it and decided to keep it after the return window closed. It came extremely well packaged and setting it up was a breeze. I did the spin down calibration and started using Zwift. This is my first time using Zwift, so I was shocked how poor that software quality is (but that's another topic and not directly related to this review).Anyway, I've been using it for a couple of weeks with Zwift now and it's been working without flaws. It's quiet, sturdy and it's been working fine on my iPad with an additional cadence sensor paired.(I shall mention, I had some initial connectivity issues, but since they are gone now for a while, it might have been an App issue with Zwift. The last weeks, I haven't had any issues connecting to the trainer, using the Cadence sensor and my Apple Watch for Heart Rate). When you purchase it, make sure you get the right cassette for it (I was very confused what to buy, so basically you need to buy a cassette with an identical disc count than what you have on your bike and ideally match the brand. I got mine from REI for ~$40.). Very important: Also get a cassette lock tool! This tiny little nut is needed to tighten the cassette onto the freerun. Buy one that has the chain holder thing as well, should be ~$20.After that, it's just hopping on your bike, starting the app and then off you go.So in sum, I would buy this again, I just wish it was a tad less expensive, because it really lacks the interactive element and is really just providing the resistance and measuring wattage.

This was my first indoor bike trainer purchase. I looked into wheel-on trainers due to the price point but then came across this direct drive unit for about the same price as the top rated wheel-on trainers. Never heard of the Magene brand before, but apparently it is a popular brand in China.Unit is very solidly built and installation was straightforward. I really like the simple design, it goes well with the looks of my bike. Magene apparently makes bike trainers for Wahoo but Wahoo probably doesn’t want you to know that as they are significantly more costly. Unit is also very quiet - all I hear are chain noise and creaking from my carbon bottom bracket and seat post, things you normally don’t hear unless it’s very quiet, for better or for worse.Like some of the other reviewers I couldn’t get the power data to be transmitted to Zwift or RGT at first even though Bluetooth connected without problems. Note Bluetooth only initiates communications after you spin up (to any speed) and then spin down completely. The user manual was missing from the packaging but I was able to download one, and hidden in one of the sections was the requirement to first download the Magene Utility app and register the unit. But even that didn’t fix the issue. You have to run the calibration routine in the app, spinning up to 25 km/h and then spinning down. That part was not spelled out clearly in the manual as a requirement before power data will be transmitted. After calibration it displayed the power data reliably.I have no way to verify the accuracy of the power readings but from GPLama’s review of the Magene T100 it apparently reads about 10% low. Perhaps a firmware update can fix that. Or perhaps it was due to the calibration being off. The lack of smarts (i.e. smart trainers automatically adjust resistance due to terrain) doesn’t bother me, especially for the price of the unit. Hopefully the mechanical simplicity translates into increased reliability in the long run. I guess we’ll have to see about that. But overall it’s an impressive unit if you are just getting into the world of indoor bike trainers.
