I've searched all the same ones Macpherson style compressor and this one is the cheapest on Amazon. Still the best value, compared to Vevor, Eastwood and etc. Under 100$ I was able to compress the DOBINSON springs at ease. Works great for Toyotas, Hondas, Lexus, Acuras

First off, this is this the exact design tool that Mercedes uses in its dealerships to remove struts. That fact and the very high production quality of this piece alone should be enough to assure you that this is worth buying. There are quite a few different types of strut compressors out there, from the very cheap and difficult to use “free rental” ones at auto parts to the elaborate pneumatic ones. I have used them all and this design is by far the simplest SAFEST and most versatile one I’ve ever used. With three different sized platforms it addresses one of the biggest shortfalls the other kits have, the none straight sided springs. Very few cars have a nice evenly spaced perfectly even spring set up. Trying to get the cheaper kits to adapt to conical springs is frustrating and some times dangerous because you end up pinching the spring rather than compressing it and that can lead to problems. This design with the ability to put the correct different sized platforms on the different sized spring allows for a straight line compression of the strut. The directions give a good description of to do this.This design also makes it so you are only driving one bolt to use it. You dont have to keep going back and forth between two sided trying to keep the compression even. You drive one bolt down and it compresses the tool keeping the spring straight and you safe. And the other great thing is that you can use power tools to compress it. The included directions clearly say it is ok and that makes life so much easier. If you have a newer car with anti-corrosion coated springs it even provides plastic covers for the platforms so you don’t scratch. FYI you will need a 22mm or 7/8 socket or wrench to use the tool

This is a nice & heavy kit. There are adapters for 3 different sizes of springs. You can mix & match as needed for your job. Once you have selected the correct adapters, you connect these to the compression arm. This is a nice & tight fit. There is also a screw to help hold each adapter / compressor in place.The compression nut is easy enough to move the arms closer until you place over your spring into position. These are angled so they have a firm & complete grip over the spring surface. Using an electric impact wrench I was able to compress the large springs off these struts so I could then remove the end nut, take off the cover & then remove the spring so I could replace these leaky struts. (I ended up just taking these completely apart & letting the spring fully expand)Unlike my older school compression tool where I have to place one on opposite sides of the spring & go back & forth compressing each side, this single unit make it much simpler & quicker & I am not bending this as I can with the 2 screw method.The yellow covers may not like to stay put on the clamps when getting set up. Also currently this set is about $92 at the time of my review. It does help me get the job done easily. Not something I will be using daily, but will be helpful for those times I need this & don't need to go & rent something in questionable condition.

Just what I needed to do the struts in my vehicle. This is a well constructed heavy duty spring compressor set that should last a long time. Very happy with my purchase.
