Worked great for the better part of a year. Stopped working just after the manufacturer warranty of 1 year expired (conveniently). Told to pay for a repair with enthusiasm. Customer service are robots, you'd have better interaction with a broken toaster.

I purchased the Big Knob Studio because I wanted to connect my laptop via USB and my xbox via a 2 track in. The Big Knob does this perfectly! Switching between the two lines is as easy as hitting one button. Sound quality is fantastic coming out of my Rokit 8's. The thing is just fun to look at! Very good looking. The build is solid and feels premier. The big volume knob is so fun to spin and the buttons feel good to press. I LOVE the DIM button! That was an unexpected win! Overall, I could not be happier with the Big Knob studio!

Great audio interface overall. I bought this as an audio interface alternative to the moto m4 (discontinued i think). After reading the reviews I was a little skeptical because I heard about issues with the knobs Being Cheesy, as well as several other issues. It is very well-built like most old school Mackie equipment, however I did notice that the attenuation of the knobs is very cheap. They kind of Wiggle a bit and if you wiggle them while they're turned up you'll hear the volume cut in and out or the signal cut in and out. That's not good for production... as it can cause static, or actually not function at the proper gain or volume. I really like that the earphone amp runs super hot, but they're the knobs that feel the cheapest!? Mackie needs to fix this asap! A less sensitive big volume knob would be better suited as well!Pretty solid product overall

So I bought the thing and its pmuch everything in an interface I would ever need and more. built like a tank, good feel. however it arrived in a crushed box.Upon using it however I noticed that when listening to my 6XX headphones through the headphone outs, it wasent balanced LR correctly. vocals where all coming from the right of me about 45 degrees. So i took a cable, routed the headphone out right back into the inputs on the back and into fl studio. doing some measurements I found out that the right ch was 3dB louder than the left. the weirdness was that at low volumes it did this but when you turn it up it would balance out properly making it unfixable by just panning it out. this was actually exhibited on all the outputs including the monitors but only by 2db.I returned it as a defective unit as this isnt usable in a studio with these issues. I might try buying one again as it would fix all my interface problems and would love the thing if it worked right, but the price shot up after I bought it so idk. anyone else have this problem?

Really good one for home studios and you can connect 2 pairs of studio monitors, which is really good for A-B comparison test.

Life Story Ahead:My M Audio BX8's were getting a little long in the tooth, so I replaced them with the new Adam Audio T5V's. I wanted something that took up less desk space and those amazing Adam ribbon tweeters! Once I got them, I instantly missed having a bottom end. I ended up keeping the BX8's just to reinforce the lows. This revealed a problem with my old Steinberg UR44 interface, it couldn't output to two sets of monitors! I then stumbled across the Mackie Big Knob Studio, and despite the silly name, it's proving to be a quality bit of kit. It does everything I want in a monitor controller. My only wish is that there were more resistance in turning the wheel. It moves very freely, and is easily bumped.I think most importantly with something going between your audio source and your monitors, is how clean the signal passes through. Given the clarity of my Adam monitors I can tell you this is passing through a signal without adding noise.Overall, I very happy to add this to my studio.UPDATE: After updating to Catalina, I've been having a wierd issue. It's as if the Big Knob Studio goes to sleep if there's no audio for awhile. It then takes 8-10 seconds to "wake up" and start playing. I don't know if this is an OS issue or the Mackie, but it's driving me nuts! While looking for a solution I realized that Mackie doesn't publish Mac drivers, which means Mackie won't be solving this problem. I'll be putting this up for sale on eBay and finding a similar device from a company that's more proactive in taking care of Mac users.

Great piece of gear! I am not a pro musician or studio tech, I bought it mainly for the flexibility of being able to control the playback of music from my computer to different amps and speakers. I can also mix in music from my phone (with the right connections) and generally have a lot of flexibility in the configuration and relative level settings.Because I am not a pro user, some of the terminology just isn't very clear, so I really couldn't make sense of some of the descriptions in the manual. I finally referred to the connection block diagram in the back of the manual and that really cleared up a lot of the confusion I had. For example, I didn't don't know what "To Cue" means based on the description, and googling what "Cue" is in terms of studio mixing gave no useful context. Looking at the diagram I figured out that pressing this button sends the "talkback" microphone signals to the headphones if the headphone outputs are set to play the “Cue" signal, which is in turn either input pair 1/2, or input pair 3/4, or a mixture thereof. After this initial frustration, I finally got everything working nicely and now very happy with the results.
