This review is for M8 Inductive Proximity Sensor Switch PR08-1.5DN2 Cylindrical Type Detector 1.5mm DC12-24V 3 Wire NPN NC(Normally Closed) CEThis is a stud mounted Hall Effect Sensor that runs on a wide range of voltagges (10-30V) and offers relatively fast, monotonic rising (1.6us) and falling edges (6.5us). The black wire is high when a metallic object is within 1.5mm of the sensor's end roughly in line with the long axis of the threaded section. It works best detecting ferrous metals but will detect aluminum and copper as well, but the target must be closer (Overall, a very nice sensor with good protection against input voltage anomalies. We are using it for a spindle index position sensor for a TaigTurn lathe. Recommended.

I've been experimenting with different sizes and styles of probes for my 3d printers. This one works quite will. It doesn't have the sensing distance of some probes, but it is also pretty small and lightweight! Good for putting on a moving part in my opinion.
