About this item

  • Made of Buna-nitrile for use with a variety of fluids and hydrocarbons
  • Durometer (hardness) of 70A
  • Round cross-section provides a seal between cylindrical overlapping surfaces
  • For use across a wide temperature range from -40 degrees F (-40 degrees C) to 212 degrees F (100 degrees C)

This metric O-ring is made of Buna-nitrile (also called Buna-N), round in cross-section, has a durometer of 70A, and is designed for use in a wide variety of sealing applications.

Buna-nitrile can have high tensile strength, resistance to abrasion, tear, and compression set resistance. It is acceptable for temperature applications between -30 degrees F (-34 degrees C) to 250 degrees F (121 degrees C). It is compatible for use with petroleum, HFA, HFB, and HFC fluids, vegetable oil, alcohol, acids, and aliphatic hydrocarbons. Buna-nitrile is vulnerable to acetone, ethers, esters, ozone, sunlight, and weathering, and should therefore not be used in ozone-generating electric motors, welding equipment, or in applications with exposure to UV light.

This O-ring has a shore durometer of 70A. Shore durometer is the hardness of a material, and its resistance to permanent indentation. A higher durometer value indicates greater resistance to indentation on a scale of 0 to 100, with 100 indicating no indentation.

O-rings commonly provide a pressure and fluid seal between cylindrically shaped, overlapping mating surfaces and are commonly seen in engines, faucets, flanges, valves and cylinders of various sorts. They are circular in shape, with a round cross section and a hole in the center, similar to a doughnut. O-rings are available in a number of sizes, and can be ordered based on required inside diameter (ID), outside diameter (OD), and cross-sectional (CS) diameter.

Bought to replace o rings in a 1" PVC universal joint that couldn't even be found at the Plumbing Supply store. Got way more of these than I'll ever need, but it was less than buying a new joint just for the O ring.

I used this to replace the shell plate spring in my LNL hornady press so as to prevent it from spilling powder during the resizing stage, seems to work Ok

Works way better than hornadys spring. It is smother in operation and it feels tighter. The only down side is when you try to remove the case it is very tight. Plus u get 10 of them.

I wanted to make my favorite Nalgene-brand flip lids work with a new Hydroflask widetop bottle ... and even though the two are *almost* compatible, the lid would leak around the threads even if screwed as tightly as possible.I didn't like the other flip-top options available for the Hydroflask, and I can't believe that people actually use the jar-lid type cap that comes with most Hydroflasks -- they weigh a ton, take 2 hands to remove, and aren't tethered to the bottle, which means you have to find somewhere to put them down if you want to drink from the bottle one-handed.The M3x52.5 ring fits perfectly into the Nalgene cap, and forms a fluid-tight seal with the Hydroflask bottle *unless* the lid is screwed on so tightly that it deforms the o-ring. I screw it on so it is snug and no leaks, which is perfect.Weird application, but exactly what I was looking for.
