I changed oil in 2 cars and replaced the original plug with this one... Big mistake. On one car, it kind of works (for now), on the other - oil pan was a bit wet. So, I decided to tighten it a little more (to manufacturer specs) and it snapped in two. I got extremely lucky to be able to remove the other half of this bolt from the oil pan and avoid costly repairs...

After 12 years of oil changes the drain plug was starting to round out and it was time for a new one.This drain plug takes a 14mm socket and provides a smaller sealing surface than the OEM. The picture (with the oil leak) is of a 2012 Acura MDX and you can see that the round cut out in the old pan is much larger than the copper crush washer that forms the seal. Unlike the OEM drain plug the oil pan leaks.The OEM drain plug takes a 17MM socket and the sealing area is much larger. You can see the comparison of the crush washers with the OEM aluminum being much larger than the copper washer.Given the sealing area of this drain plug vs. the OEM - I would not recommend this for a MDX.

Fit and finish are spot on, does the job! It’s a magnetic drain plug and it has a strong magnet to gather any metal. It’s working because I did an oil change when I got this plug and did another recently and there was definable really fine metal paste that was adhered together magnetic tip
