I keep my house pretty cool in the wintertime, so in order to get a batch of kombucha in a timely manner I need to keep the jar heated. I now have two jars of kombucha brewing so I needed another heating wrap. I got this one, but it doesn't work very elegantly with my jar. The wrap is not long enough to go around my standard-sized gallon jar. The temperature probe suctions to the outside of the jar, so depending on airflow around the jar, the thermostat may get a different reading than the actual temperature of the kombucha. I keep my jars covered by thick fabric which helps to hold heat in. I do like that I can set a specific temperature instead of turning a knob like with my other wrap - however, after any loss of power you have to turn it back on, where the knob-set wrap is on automatically.

These work great for 1-1.5gal fermentors.kept a good temp, warmed things up just enough to make delicious beer.Looks like you can chain multiple and use 1 controller which is nice (I only used 2)Only thing they could use is slightly longer velcro, but it was easily solved by using some additional velcro I had for wire management.

I've been making sauerkraut for a little while, but I don't make it in winter because my kitchen gets too cold at night (and my wife prefers I don't ferment sauerkraut in the bedroom). When I saw this recommended on a sauerkraut making website, I just had to try it out.It was very easy to put together and use. I like that it came with a stick on thermometer (I sometimes use a wireless thermometer, but the one on the jar is nice to have). The Velcro strap works well, but it's nice to have the extra rubber bands to make sure things are really secure.It comes with two heating pads that are daisy chained. So far I've only used one, but can see were two could be useful. It would allow you to ferment two different things at the same time.I highly recommend this product.

This is exactly what I needed for my kombucha. The glass container stays way too cold for my brewing preferences. I definitely agree on larger velcro straps. This thing needs to go around larger vessels. Please include more Velcro.thanks

Heating wrap worked well. It held temperatures consistent within 1 degree F. I mostly used it as a heating mat on the counter underneath my sourdough starter and dough during bulk fermentation. When it was wrapped around the starter I couldn't gauge the rise of the starter without removing it. My kitchen is around 69-70F during the colder months. I was able to set it at 78F and got consistent results which cut my fermentation time to almost half. Usually 12-14 hours down to 6-7 hours. If they ever offer a round or square mat I may pic one up. I also plan to use it in my beer fermetation chamber when I do small batches of 2.5 gallons or less.

The size is really small for a gallon or 2. It needs to be longer overall. The Velcro isn't long enough unless you're using a tiny vessel/container. You will need your own extra Velcro or something to hold it in place. It would be best to have Velcro on both ends instead of one. Hopefully this will get a redesign

I brew my own kombucha and was looking for a heat wrap for my 1 and 2 gallon containers. According to the description, this should have worked. It doesn't. The velcro isn't long enough to wrap around even my 1 gallon--and especially not my 2 gallon. Disappointed that this doesn't work with the most popular sizes for kombucha brewing.

I love the chaining feature to cut down on the number of cords and temperature controllers. However, I don't agree with their claim that these work with 2 gallon vessels without modification. I couldn't even get one to fit around my tall, skinny 2 gallon vessels, much less a short, chunky one. I had to add additional Velcro, as pictured, for it to reach all the way. They also have trouble keeping that volume of liquid up to temp (even when placed at center mass). With one 2 gallon vessel full of Kombucha, the "high" setting would only maintain the liquid at or below 75 F. This is an acceptable temp for Kombucha, but it's on the lower end of the preferred range. That being said, you could probably put two on each of the vessels to cover more surface area. Although, the instructions and listing are unclear on exactly how many you can chain together. The controller is listed at 200 W and the max for each heating mat is 12 W, but I find it unlikely you can chain 16 of them without a performance drop. Lastly, there is no UL or ETL listing on this product. I will probably still use these, but I'm still on the fence about how much value they provide over seedling mats with more granular temperature controls.
