I measure windows for a living, have since 2012, and have easily purchased 30 tape measures over the years. We had our Fat Max era, our Milwaukee Stud era, and now the Crecent Lufkin Magnetic Nite eye. It’s perfect. Durable. Huge stand out. Strongest magnet I’ve seen on a tape measure and can hold its own weight if hung from a metal ceiling heat register. I buy these as gifts. I accidentally sell these to customers. I wish I could be involved in the creation of these tape measures as they are one of the most considerately made tools I own.

Measuring tape broke after 6 months. The tip broke off. Not recommended. Becomes flimsy after months of use. Can’t withstand the rigors of commercial construction.

This is a hefty tape measure and has taken a beating while still going strong. Nite Eye makes it really easy to see the measurement markings and the tape itself is sturdy. It can extend quite a bit before it collapses, and with the help of the magnet, I can measure plenty of things on my own.

I have been using my new tape measure for a few weeks and wanted to offer some customer feedback.1) The nite eye coloring has made reading the tape much easier for me than using my yellow or white tapes. It is an awesome innovation.2) The double sided printing has come in handy and is the main reason I purchased the tape, an excellent feature!3) The magnet and oversized end are also notable conveniences.4) The tape is physically very heavy, bulky and cumbersome.

I wanted this tape to work. I picked this item because of the LUFKIN name, and the 35' Gen 2, drop test was impressive. This Lufkin tape order was a next-day delivery hence my pulling the trigger. I needed it Prime overnight bcuz in the middle of a fence build and my old trusty tape just wore out after 10 years. (How many pull and reads over 10 years??) I received this tape early the next mornIng- ok good. But here's where it gets nuts and became problematic - When I opened the package the magnetic tape end was broke off in bag. Then I extended the tape out and it would not retract, it kept binding up, hand-forcing the tape back in. I tried to work with it but just couldn't. I too thought the black tape was a good idea visually yet that day was hot and the black tape and housing got hot, I mean it really heated up to where you couldn't touch it- that's a BIG problem too. Now, the retract binding was caused by loose tolerances of wound-up tape moving left and right inside the housing- super side-to-side slop. I tried opening it up to find the problem not seeing anything out then tightening down the 2 piece housing screws to no avail, still not working correctly. This was most likely just a defective unit so sent it back, but I'm not so sure about Lufkin now. It looked tough and I thought another 10 years for a tape measure would be up and ready, but the actual tape measure material is very thin compared to old tape, and no way it makes it 10. It is 'Easy to Read' as advertised, yes, but I have a hard time believing it's built strong enough to last 10 years in the field of everyday dependable use, seems more like a novelty item. The black tape housing/body gets hot and the black tape just cooks, not good in the summer heat. So I'm looking again for a tough, dependable quality, and strong tape measure that'll stand the test of time, built well, and is not black in color. Any ideas?

I like this tape. It’s easy to read, it’s heavy and seems very well made. Only thing I don’t like is the pocket/belt clip doesn’t work very well. Stand out is at best 12 feet. Magnet is strong.

Facile à lire, l'aimant au bout est très pratique pour mesurer entre des montants de fer.Le tape vient avec deux piles Energiser A23 mais aucune instruction indique ou mettre les piles ni même à quoi ils servent !!!

I have had this tape measure for about 8 months now. Only issue I’ve had was the tape got a cut and was getting snagged on the teeth preventing it from coming out smoothly. I contacted the warranty department and they sent me out a replacement free of charge.Overall a great tape measure that is durable with a great warranty.

I’m really impressed with the quality. The end does have a little play, but it’s ok for my purposes. It looks very cool and is well made, and the tape itself is strong. I came fork the cheap regular orange Lufkin and won’t use another measure again
