About this item

  • TRUMIC noise canceling technology
  • All discrete mic preamplifier
  • Soundhole volume control
  • Microphone presence control
  • Analog signal conditioning

There's no argument that a mic is the best way to capture the sound of an acoustic guitar, but until now, using a mic for most live performances has been an elusive dream. Lyric, the next step in Tru. Mic technology, is the long overdue realization of this dream. Without a pickup, Lyric's microphone accurately transports your guitar's actual voice to a live audience for the most realistic and inspiring sound you will ever experience. Our featherweight microphone, each high graded for ideal response, mounts to the underside of the bridge plate with simple peel & stick adhesive to preserve the integrity of your instrument. The mic leverages the "pressure zone" principle by positioning the capsule just 3mm from the surface of the top to hear the entire soundboard for even balance and tone. And the mic's proximity to the top allows high gain before feedback. Unlike other attempts to use an internal mic, Lyric employs noise cancelling technology that rejects "boxy" reflections inside of the acoustic chamber. This patent pending minor miracle enables the mic to act as if it were outside of the guitar delivering a clear and open performance. In a studio, you would have to use an entire rack of gear to achieve what we have built into Lyric's tiny circuit board. Our lead engineer, Tommy Linn, created several patent pending "black box" circuit innovations that unlock the potential of the microphone. The first tightens the lower frequencies for a punchier attack with natural dynamics. The second maintains the mic's sweetness no matter how hard you play. The third innovation, not patent pending but useful, is an adjustable "presence" control that dials high frequency response perfectly for your guitar. Wrap all of this in all discrete, high fidelity mic pre and you have a world class microphone system as an integral part of your guitar anywhere you plug in.

I have now installed these in two classical guitars usedin live performances (coffeehouses, open mics and pubs). Sound quality and control is robust and accurate. I am extremely pleased!just don't forget to turn volume off after using to save your battery. Strings have to be removed to change battery. The battery has outlived strings when it is ti.e to change so not an issue. Expensive but I feel worth the money.

At the recommendation of a fellow guitarist I tried a Lyric. The sound is so good that I’ve installed several. From a jumbo-body baritone to a little 0-sized parlor guitar, it has worked great.

Cutting straight to the point: In my estimation, this was created to sound like an old Martin Thinline with a little more clarity on the top end. That is accomplished via this tiny condensor mic. So, if that's what you want, it's probably fine. That's my evaluation of what this could possibly be good for.Beyond that, I would only pay about $75 for this system. It's an absolute joke to try to play live with this if there is a speaker anywhere nearby. I have been playing all kinds of guitar mic / pickup systems for over 30 years, and have NEVER encountered a feedback monster as horrible as this. Forget playing anything live with any bass whatsoever. I am talking anything abouve 530 Hz! You have to cut and carve out any frequencies below that, unless you play with a feedback buster (soundhole cover,) which the stupid control panel of the pickup system gets in the way of, so you have to modify the feedback buster (grinding wheel works best) to get it to fit the soundhole. You cannot get the punchy lows that make a guitar sound like a guitar with this mic. (And let's call a spade a spade here, it's not a pickup. It's a mic)If you loop live, then forget this and move on. You can hear your vocals coming back through it in all the muffled glory on your loops, even with the feedback buster in place. You will regret installing it if you do any kind of looping.Lastly the presence control is AWFUL and should not even have been included. It adds top end glass that is really harsh and crispy. An integrated bass cut / HPF, or a sweeping tone control would have been far better.

Excellent product. Can’t believe how good it sounds. Only downside is the under saddle bridge has slightly changed the sound of my guitar when it’s unplugged. It’s slightly muted. Great when plugged in though. I intend to use pickup and condenser mic when recording and so having the best of both worlds. Great product

Amazing product! Best acoustic guitar amp I’ve heard. Chosen it after a lot of research for my Martin I really wanted to keep the original sound of the guitar even when plugged in, and a microphone system is the only way really. Had no issues with feedback so far in small venues (50-100 people). The presence adjustment is really useful, and the sound quality amazing.

What an awesome pickup! I am VERY happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone who wants to add or upgrade the pickup on their acoustic guitar. I installed it in my Taylor acoustic and the results are fantastic. The sound is very true to the acoustic sound of the guitar.

I bought this to replace a Seymour Duncan MagMic which was already a very good match for my Lowden O22. I already have an LR Baggs Anthem which works brilliantly on my Lowden O25 and I seriously believed that the Lyric would be a step up from that. I'm not convinced that it's a step up from the Anthem.I believe the Lyric is light years ahead of what was available even a couple of years ago, but, having tested it against the MagMic and a studio mic, it's still not quite as good as the hype that I've read. I took the time to make the fine adjustment of the 'presence' screw and it really makes a big difference. However, even after finding the setting I believe to be best (about 1/8th of a turn less than maximum), it still sounds best with the mid-range scooped out of the sound (in order to obtain clarity/definition between notes). Looking at the difference between the mic wav files and lyric wav files, the Lyric is highly compressed and where my actual guitar sound gets louder as you go from top strings to bottom, the Lyric gets louder as you play from bottom to top.I haven't gigged with it yet but have extensively tested in my home studio and, although it ranks up there among the very best pickups/mics for acoustic guitars and the Baggs engineers deserve credit for a great advance, it falls a little short of what I expected, having read so much hype in the music press. It's a good sound but it falls a little short of being the exact sound of my guitar.

This pickup works like a charm. the sound is an accurate reproduction of my Takamine guitar. it was easy to install (The tailpiece had to be redrilled on my guitar, but no big deal.) I have a 30 year old guitar and when the pick-up died I was shocked to hear the money the repair shops wanted. there was no inventory for the pick=up around, so I was told the whole guitar had to be revamped to fit other equipment. This pick=up fit the bill. the price was right.

I have been playing guitar since 1964. During all that time, I have been searching for a mechanism (aside from a really good mic) to capture the acoustic sound. I just put this Lyric in a Martin D28-12 string guitar. I got the most incredible acoustic sound I have ever heard coming out of a "Podunk" little portable amp. This Lyric is simply incredible. The sound out of the Martin using the Lyric could fill a cathedral. None of the boxy or twangy sound you get from other acoustic pickups either under the saddle or under the bridge. The only down side of this item is that if you install it yourself (and you are not an authorized Baggs installer) you don't have a warranty. But installation is a piece of cake. This thing is as good a mother and apple pie!!!!!

I recently purchased a brand new Taylor 320 all mahogany acoustic guitar and the only setback I was facing was not being able to plug it in. I looked around and did some research with pickups, microphones, and even piezo systems until I found this Lyric. What really caught my attention was how easy it was to instal and how no modification was needed to install it into my guitar. Within an hour I was playing through my monitor speakers and recording acoustic tracks! What really sets this apart is how it picks up literally any sounds inside and outside of the guitar, since it is a fully functional microphone. I can use my guitar as a percussive instrument just as much as it is a stringed instrument. I am so glad I got it and for the money, it was well worth it! It captures all the small nuances that my hog top has without sacrificing my wallet or modifying the guitar. Definitely get this!
