My Shark is rather old so it wasn't surprising when the lower hose cut open. Duct tape helped for a short while but wasn't going to last. I watched an easy to follow youtube video detailing the replacement. That guy recommended "E6000" glue which I picked up at my local home improvement store. Ironically, the glue first acts as a LUBRICANT so you can screw the hose all the way into its grooves. The hose is a tacky kind of rubber that doesn't otherwise want to slip into the threads, so don't be discouraged if you're trying to do a dry run and the hose refuses to cooperate.Note: You may need special driver heads to remove the screws. Mine were plain old Philips, but the demo I watched on YouTube needed star-bits with the center safety-hole.

A little tricky to change but not difficult. There is a Utube video on how to replace. Look for Shark lower hose replacement. Video helps show how to do it as hose is reversed threads - lefty tighty.

Before you Screw in your New Hose.1. Thoroughly clean the threaded parts that the Hose ends connects to the vacuum cleaner of all Built up Dirt and Dust-before you attempt to fit the new hose.To do this: Spray all the threaded arears the hose is screwed into with Electrical Contact Spray (cos it won't damage the plastic) & clean the threads with an old toothbrush. It is an easy reconnect of this hose but make sure you aligned the Floor Head Connector onto the hose in it's correct orientation with the Floor Head-it has to be inserted in a particular position or you may not get the assembly correct PLUS you will put premature strain on the Hose plastic and will split another hose in no time at all.Now here is the TIP:Before you attempt to screw the Hose into place.Grab yourself a Tube of Anti-Seize Lubricant from your Auto Parts Store or Hardware Store.2. After you have cleaned the Threaded Sections, take a 'DAB' of the Anti-Seize Lubricant onto your finger tip and smear it onto the Threaded Sections and onto the outside of both hose end.(You only need to put a 'light smear' onto the part of the hose that goes into the vacuum parts)-Do Not smear it on all of the Hose. When you have done that:3. First, screw the end of the new Hose into the Vacuum Cleaner or into the top part of the Floor Head, then;4. Screw the part that aligns into the Lower Section of the Floor Head, onto the Hose. Make sure that you check that you align that part close to it's correct position-it is can only be fitted in one way.5. Reassemble your Floor Head and Test that it operates correctly.Last very important tip:6. Always Store your Floor Head so the the Hose you replaced Is Not Stored in a Bent Position.Be sure to store your Vacuum Cleaner onthe supplied Wall Hanger and make sure the Floor Head, hangs straight down towards the floor.Reason being? Look at the Hose and Note how thin the plastic is between the Spring Coils. This is what tears due to the constant bending, turning and twisting of your Floor Head while you use the vacuum cleaner. If you store it in a Bent position, it puts strain on the plastic covering between the Spring Coils and it will eventually split open.If you follow these Tips, to replace the Hose, it will be an easy and quicker change over.7. Store the Floor Head so the Hose is not bent-your Hose will last longer.I also clean the inside of the this Hose, when I clean the Filters. All those 'nasties' that you vacuum off your floors, can compromise the integrity of the Plastic Hose and shorten its working life.Be sure to use a 'mild' non abrasive cleaner and be gently with the plastic.I have owned my Vac for 8 years & replaced the Original Hose after 2 years.; it was a 'literal pain' to change.Using the above method was much easier this time around.Hope it helps.

This fit my shark vacuum great. Make sure you have the right size bits to unscrew the vacuum and that they’re narrow enough to go in the deep holes.

Ordered these to replace torn hose in my Shark HV301. Once installed they do the job. You have to install these correctly or you will be frustrated. First of all, watch a video on how to dismantle the assembly. What is important to know is when removing the black plastic end of the hose turn it to the right. The righty tighty rule is opposite here. To remove the hose itself from the assembly, same rule applies. Twist the hose to the right to loosen and remove. Another important tip is when reinstalling twist the new hose to the left until it stops twisting. Same thing when replacing the plastic end. If you do not twist all the way in, you will have problems putting the bottom cover on due to the black plastic protruding out of the hole. It must be flush with the hole. Hopefully this will keep you from having headaches.

The hose is much better quality and stirdier than the original hose vacuum, and I doubt it will tear as easily. It needed to be trimmed slightly to fit (needs to be twisted in). The inside where the original hose was previously had glue residue that needed scraping, and although I didn't do a great job of that, the hose fit perfectly regardless with a bit of elbow grease. The little tool wasn't much use for the hose exchange, but it did good for dusting the inside of the vacuum afterwards and hair removal.

This hose is a perfect fit for my HV300. It also seems like a better quality. There’s what looks like a nylon mesh imbedded in the hose material which seems would prevent it from splitting like the old one. It wasn’t that hard to replace with the help of an online video so it was definitely worth it. Also I’m glad there was two hoses included since I decided I needed to shorten it and cut it to short, duh. The original precut size was perfect.
