This is an amazing product and makes cutting out for old work boxes extremely easy. Sturdy enough and not pricy low voltage rings and old work boxes fit perfectly

Very useful product. The raised markers are a little difficult to see, orange on orange, so I marked them with black ink. This made it easy to position and align with centerline markings on the wall. The built-in bubble levels are very convenient and helpful to get a perfectly square and level cut out.

I have found that the template seize is slightly narrower than all the low voltage brackets for faceplates that I have tried, including those from Leviton, Cable Masters, and generic ones. You have to cut slightly outside the drawn line to make the LW brackets fit. Still it is a good tool that makes the job task easier. I’m using it a lot despite my initial disappointment.

I should have bought one of these years ago! It makes it simple to mark level cut out areas for low voltage outlets in drywall. I suspect it would even help with marking for AC outlets as well. It also made it easier for me to get them at the same height as existing outlets. I just used a long level and an existing outlet to mark the top height of the new outlet. Then I used this tool to mark the actual cut out location. See attached picture. The new outlets are the low voltage speaker outlets on the left side.

Pricey for what it is, invaluable for speedy precise installs. I've had these for years, any professional AV installer will know the Sandman name. A company that gets it....I see alot of complaints about using this, mostly from homeowners that aren't versed in the many ways to use it, or the boxes it was made for. This was developed for Sandman branded cutout rings, not every 1 gang cut in box has the same cutout pattern... That is why some people say the template isn't correct. But an experienced installer can use this for any gang box. As this tool allows extremely quick lineup and leveling, and then you can adjust your cut around the now LEVEL and properly positions outline on the wall to match the nuances of whatever brand box you are trying to use.We use this for any number of gang cuts, 1,2,3,4 you have to learn how to use the markings, in conjunction with the brand of boxes you are using. There are good videos out there of which marks to use for a 2 gang cut with this, most the issues are user error or misunderstanding.I have been using Sandman install tools since 1998 as well as Platinum brand stuff, and between those 2 brands the tools in my site bag they are all indispensable. Get yourself this box tool and the Platinum Cyclops stripper before any other specialty tools, and once you learn to be proficient with them will save you so much time and be able to perform much cleaner installs.

I dont recommend buying this product if you're in Canada. It is to long for our device boxes as shown in the pictures i provided.

I want to love this template, I really do. The hole size must be made and tested for specific low voltage boxes. Unfortunately the ones I picked up (generic home depot ones and amazon ones) require more drywall to be removed for it to fit. I've tried cutting on the line, outside the line a little bit still have to take off more to make it fit.

This is a very handy tool and great if you cant cut a level, straight hole. I have been in the low-voltage industry for decades and can level a jack with just eyesight, but every once in a while, I have to do a jack in an odd location, oram in a weird position where my viewpoint is skewed. This tool takes away all guesswork. slap it on the wall, and startcutting. No problem. My sheetrock cutout is perfect every time ! Get One. Take pride in your work. Work as if you are doing it for Jesus himself. This will help you do a better install.
