We are using this in our new compost Tumbler and it seems to be doing an accurate job of taking the temperature. It is the middle of winter and the outside temperatures have been dipping into the freezing temps, but the inside of the compost Tumbler stays right around 50° sometimes higher.I think that is pretty good considering we started this thing in winter so I assume by next spring, we will have an excellent start on some great compost.

Lens fogs up. Kinda short but seems accurate.

Just stick it in the compost pile. Easy to read from a distance. We bought 4 of them and continue to be satisfied with them.

I like this compost thermometer because of the colors and easy to read numbers. I can see at a glance from far away the status of my compost. I've had so many of the other "reotemp" thermometers break on me the moment a splash of water touches them. This brand so far has outlived them all. It is also keeping its color, not fading and not fogged up with water droplets. I proudly saw my compost pile up to 130 degrees using this thermometer, the microbes love it too! - Happy zero waste living!

So far it works fine. I am using it when making my own soil for medical cannabis indoor cultivation to make sure the soil had cooked and the temperature dropped below 100° F but preferably below 80°. The probe itself is a bit too thin for my liking but if careful with it I'm sure it'll last a while. I saw another review from a guy who used this exact device in his compost pile but he left it stuck in the pile outdoors all year round and somehow the top broke off. It was still working but it was kind of hanging what looked like a wire of some sort that was holding the probe and the top piece together. I'm not sure how he managed to break it because supposedly he didn't do anything to it that it just broke but I just can't see how that can happen unless physically break it yourself. Anyhow, I've had it for 2 months already and I have been checking 5 separate 55 gallon totes with soil and I'm getting what seems like accurate readings and it does the job. I couldn't ask for more. Highly recommend!
