I've owned four different G502 mice over the years, and I just replaced a G502 SE HERO with this one because my "HERO" began exhibiting the dreaded Click Bounce failure, and spraying contact cleaner into it didn't help.First, the positive. This really is a nice mouse. The 502X is incredibly lightweight, so it's easy to move around. And the thumb button, which was in a great position on the very first G502 mouse, but moved too far forward on models since then, is reversible, so that you can position it in the "too-far-forward" position (so you don't accidentally use it) or further back (so you can use it without having to lift your hand). This is a fantastic improvement! The rubberized scroll wheel also feels nicer on the finger than the old plastic scroll wheel, so I appreciate that improvement, too. Finally, I'm hopeful that the new opto-mechanical switches (optical switches with a mechanical clicker to offer some satisfying resistance) might be immune to the "click bounce" problem that has plagued Logitech's mice for *decades*. If the smallest bit of contamination gets into their mechanical microswitches, they begin malfunctioning, and you often can't clean it without tearing the mouse apart (they're never the same after doing that). In my experience, this consistently happens within 2-5 years of getting a new mouse. There's a reasonable chance that the optical switch won't have such a failure mode. Here's hoping!Unfortunately, everything else is a step backwards. This is priced comparably with the prior model (when it was new), but the mouse feels cheap, probably due to light-weighting. Clicking of the buttons and the scroll wheel sounds hollow and LOUD, to the point of being distracting (I'd prefer a slightly heavier mouse that isn't so loud). The LED lighting was a nice-to-have feature that is now only available on the most expensive wireless "plus" model (I don't want a wireless mouse). The substantial-feeling braided nylon cord has been replaced with a simple rubber cord that is higher-friction and likely more susceptible to wearing (I've never had a mouse cord wear out, so I'm not too worried). This is a nice mouse, but overall, the HERO provided a better user experience. The thumb button is a big improvement, and I'm hoping the switches are more durable. But overall, it's not as nice of a mouse as the prior G502 mice were.

I have been using g502 mice for years because I cannot find anything quite like it, but they all suffer the same double clicking or no clicking fate. I dealt with the issues for 3 years before finally replacing my first one. A few short months later the replacement (2nd one) suffered not clicking at all about 50% of the time. I heard this one is better because it uses a different type of switch so I decided to take the chance and spend the little extra for it qnd im glad I did. The g502x so far has solved all my problems with the g502. Unfortunately it is a downgrade in some ways, but nothing deal breaking. The braided cable has been replaced with a standard cable and the adjustable weights were removed. It still has the amazing free spinning scroll wheel toggle the g502 is known for. Fantastic mouse overall, super comfortable and great at clicking heads.

Good mouse, no latency, it fits my hand, ergonomically sound, it is very light, afraid to drop it, and looks fragile to put in my bag. It came with very light packaging. It will be considerate of manufacturer to include a protected case, it is an expensive mouse even when it is on special. since I am using logitech products last 15 years I went with this. I have not used G Hub add-on configuration. Recommended.

SO after purchasing the wired version of the g502x and using it for a while i have some things to say about it.There is a lot on this mouse to like, and some minor things that could be improved but overall fantastic mouse. I never personally owned the original g502 but i used it often so ill try to compare them the best i can.Pros:-amazing comfort and shape for long use times-very good accuracy and response time with a 1000hrz polling rate-completely customizable settings for al of the programmable buttons and ability to change dpi levels-is capable of storing 2 entire profiles with different buttons and dpi levels programmed for each one changeable via the G9 button (basically instead of programming a mouses buttons once you can have 2 separate profiles you can swap in between.-the two profiles can be stored onboard the mouse and used with any pc with onboard memory-optical switches give a faster response time and make faulty double clicking impossible-dpi shift button can be changed or removed to become flush with mouse.-infinity scroll wheel-lightest g502 ever weighing less than a g203 at only 84 grams still keeping the same great build quality. massive difference from g502s lowest weight at 132gramsCons:-mouse skates are scratchy brand new and take a few hours of use to become perfectly smooth with round edges-dpi light has been moved in front of the scroll wheel and now changes color instead of the shifting led on the g502 that was on the side, which for most people including me is a pro but for those who are colorblind might be hard to tell what dpi you are on.-no rgb (which for me is arguably a pro)-no more adjustable weightsoverall this is an amazing mouse and my favorite g502 ever but to those who miss the rgb and weights of the normal g502 it might not be. personally never cared for either of those features so I consider this mouse an awesome upgrade to the original g502.

My review is for the Gen 2 mouse. I have used the Gen 1 for almost 10 years as my primary mouse, and while it was great in most ways, it had some flaws like the defective switches which eventually made the mouse unusable, and also the excessive weight. The Gen 2 keeps everything that was good about the Gen 1 and improves everything that was wrong. The new switches feel great and super responsive, and because they're optical, there's no risk anymore of unwanted double clicking or getting stuck down. The weight of the mouse has also been reduced so it makes your response time and fatigue lower. I think the grip pads on the sides are more comfortable than the old model. I have big hands so using a "normal" size mouse is painful for me and the Gen 1 and Gen 2 are the only mice I've used that fit well in my hand. I can put my whole hand on the mouse up to my palm and my hand doesn't overhang the mouse. The Logitech software is also great and easy to use and lets you manually set DPI and rebind every button on the mouse which is amazing. So in summary, I think the Gen 2 is the best gaming mouse available.

Pros:-New grips are actually improvement over the original-Optical hybrid switches remedy the notorious double clicking issue that Logi mice tend to have-Hero sensor is accurate-Great PTFE feet-The wired version is 89 grams and it feels way lighter than the OG G502-The comfort in holding this thing with the balanced weight make for amazing controlCons:-The wired version comes with a FLIMSY rubber cable. I don't mind the cable being on a mouse bungee but it's so thin, I really don't know how well this cable will withstand the wear and tear. The cable is this mouse's Achilles Heel. Not because it's rubber, but because it's the flimsiest cable I've ever seen on a gaming mouse (especially for a mouse that's $79.99)-For a wired mouse, this is not a very long mouse cable.-Great for all genres of gaming, but 89 grams is still pretty heavy for games that require quick reaction time (at least for me).Overall: It's a great mouse. I didn't like the OG G502 because it was so friggin' heavy (even without the weights). I could've opted for the wireless version but I wanted the lightest version of this mouse possible. So I got the wired version. My only concern is that this mouse cable is so flimsy that I don't know if it's going to endure the wear and tear. For now, I've got a mouse bungee to compensate for the cable dragging on the mouse pad.Update 1: I returned the wired version and got a wireless version. It's 10 grams heavier but it's very difficult to tell.Update 2: I re-purchased my 2nd copy (wired). So the wireless version is for productivity and the 89 gram wired one is for gaming. Although, for FPS games, I can only use this for specific classes (sniping or campy like classes).
