Pretty handy little clock for kids. The night light is soft and not too bright, and the OK-to-wake feature helps with early mornings. The sound machine has a few nice options, though the volume could be a bit more adjustable. Setup takes a little patience, but once it’s going, it works well. Good option if you’re trying to get your kid on a better sleep schedule.

This wake-up clock is so cute and fun. The piece of bread is adorable. It shows the time and gets my kids attention because of the design. It is helping him to know how to read and interpret time. He knows when to get out of bed in the morning now.

This children's alarm clock is cute overall. It has the little rubber spikes on it and even a tail. You can set the two spikes up top to be different colors and then when it is time to wake up they turn green. I like that it also includes a white noise machine setting but there are only a few options and they are pretty tinny sounding and can be jarring through the inexpensive speaker. Not bad, but could be a little better. It is a nice size overall especially for a kid to use. It also has a child lock setting on the back that keeps your child from messing with everything. I do also like that it includes a backup battery for the settings. It does power off if the plug is removed but it saves your settings like the time/timer/etc. for next time that you plug it in.Overall it is a cute alarm clock that is easy to use. My son adores it and is excited to have it in his room.

This children's sleep trainer and alarm clock has some great features, and also has some downsides. I like the cute, appealing design, and the instruction booklet is surprisingly well-written and easy to understand. This also has lots of great features that people can set individually in whatever combo they prefer. I like that this includes the option of setting 0-2 standard alarms, a nap timer, sleep training lights, a nightlight, and sound machine recordings. This offers a lot at a competitive price. However, this does not come ready to plug into the wall. The provided cord plugs into a USB-C port in the clock, and then can plug into a standard USB plug adapter. I wish that this came with a normal wall plug, or at least with its own adapter. Also, even though this has a battery, it is not battery-operated. The battery will save your time settings if the power goes out, but this must be plugged into an outlet in order to function, and it will not operate during power outages. There are a lot of buttons, and they aren't always intuitive to use. This may be preferable for some families, since it can prevent kids from messing up the settings, and there is also a child lock button for that purpose. However, with kids who are old enough to have some independence in setting alarms, this can be a downside. There is also no shortcut button to preview the alarm time. You have to act like you're going to change it in order to check the setting. Also, the buttons are all on the back, so you have to keep turning this back and forth between the clock face and the buttons when you're setting alarms. I'm used to being able to press buttons on the back of an alarm through muscle memory, but there are so many small buttons close together here that I have to keep turning the clock around to look at them. The alarm is shrill and unpleasant. You can turn the volume down, but unless I'm missing something, it doesn't appear that there is a way to change the alarm sound. There are multiple options for sound machine recordings, but these are unrelated to the alarm noise. The red sleep training light will be scary for some kids, because it looks like Nessi has red devil horns glowing in the darkness. This feature is totally optional and is easy to turn off, and there are other night light colors. However, the standard red color for the sleep trainer is a design flaw, in my opinion. The numbers on the clock face are much smaller than what I'm used to, and are also very close together. Kids who need glasses may not be able to read the clock display while they're in bed, unless the clock is right next to them. I could barely make out the numbers on the clock from five feet away after I took out my contact lenses.Overall, I have enough critiques about this product that I probably won't continue using it. This has a lot of great features, and it may be a wonderful fit for some families, but it did not live up to my expectations.

This LittleHippo Nessi nightlight/sound machine is a cute little monster with a lot of options for use. It’s small enough to easily go on a nightstand, but with a large enough screen to read. I like that it’s a friendly looking imaginary animal and that the color of its ‘horns’ is selectable (pick one of four colors.) Red is suggested for nighttime but you can have the horns lit up whenever you want. It’s possible to set this thing to tell your child when it’s bedtime and when it’s time to get up. It can also be set for just a nap, to have an alarm go off after a set amount of time as you’re given multiple options. You can set two other alarms with Nessi (these are NOT wake-up alarms for the sleep trainer—it doesn’t make a sound when it’s time to be awake, just changes the color of the lights in the horns.) The alarms that it comes with aren’t my favorite. One is your standard annoying alarm beeping, one is a cuckoo bird, and one is an upbeat xylophone song. Maybe it’s because I’m old, but I’d rather have something more calm and soothing to wake up to. But maybe a small child would like the cuckoo or song.It plays a variety of sounds on demand and you can select the duration of time they play. For some reason I assumed they would play at the beginning of the sleep time but the only thing that happens then is that the color of the horns changes to red and the moon/stars appear on the screen. I like the multiple choices for sounds of nature but there’s also an option for white noise. It also has a soothing version of Brahms’ Lullaby which sounds like it’s played from a music box. Most of the buttons are located on the back of the unit. I wish the labels were printed in black to make it easier to tell which button is which. Unfortunately, the white plastic is raised for the symbols and labels. It can be a bit of a chore to keep flipping the unit around to check for the correct button to press but also be able to look at the screen when programming the various features. Note, page 6 of the manual has a diagram of the buttons, so it may be helpful to keep the manual open to this page if you have trouble distinguishing the labels on the back of the unit. I do appreciate that there is a ‘lock’ button so that curious little fingers won’t sabotage your programs. The front ‘spike’ on Nessi is a snooze button but it also does other things like cancel the snooze or check how long you still have for a nap.It comes with a USB-A to USB-C cable but no wall plug. It has to remain plugged in to function, so I do kind of wish it came with the plug itself. There’s a CR2032 battery in the bottom, but that only preserves the time and the programs you have set. The battery door has a miniscule screw that you must remove to access the battery (a good safety feature around little kids that might want to eat said battery.) Make sure you carefully set down the battery access door with tiny screw, but even more importantly, cover that screw with your thumb when you go to reinstall the access door. The screw popped out of mine and immediately got lost in thick carpet. A strong magnet helped to retrieve it, but the screw is so small it’s pretty much impossible to see once it falls between carpet fibers. The instruction manual was well-written with easy-to-understand instructions. It was even printed in color with clear pictures of Nessi. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the manual and instructions since this is out of the ordinary for most of the items I order online.Personal pet peeve, the moon is not always in the sky at night and I hate that this myth is pervasive in kids’ books and toys. For example, the moon rises early to mid-morning just after the new moon phase. I do understand that it’s the simplest way to indicate to a small child that it’s time for sleeping (moon) or being awake (sun) but… please take your child to a planetarium when they are old enough so they can learn that the moon only rises around sunset when it’s in the full moon phase or just after.
