I used this product to "secure" a water softener in Florida to resist uneven settlement rather than seismic since that is not really needed here. It worked perfectly but I have two notes that people should consider: 1. the screws provided are only for timber and concrete (I ended up getting Tapcon masonry screws that worked great) and 2. I used this outside, so I really wish they had made the metal parts using stainless steel but instead it appears that it is galvanized steel which is not surprising since it is less expensive. Neither of these two things were surprising so there was no reason not to give it a 5 out of 5 stars.

These nylon straps are the best!! Forget those sharp, heavy, difficult to install metal straps! These are a cinch and adjust just like a seat belt!

Installed on two different water heaters in the basement of a group home. One was a 40 gal natural gas and the other was a 50 gal electric. Both went on without any problems. Loved the fact that you belt strapped them instead of using screws for metal bands. Installed both in about 15 minutes and was gone from the jobsite. Super easy to install and super easy to undo to replace the heater later. Really can't ask for any better than that. Highly recommend these for securing water heaters.

I needed to secure my water heater with straps and these were recommended. Very easy to install and I am confident they will do the job during an earthquake.

If you are looking for a top of the line extremely sturdy support system then you should get the metal straps. But, these straps will get you up to code, they are easy to install, and I’m sure they would stop the water heater from shifting in any reasonable earthquake.

Like this item for a few reasons. Not every home is built the same, studs aren't always in the perfect spot, this product gives you some flexibility. Also like that it's fabric, not those steel bands that will slice you up. It looks modern and does the job. Instructions were fairly clear, lag into wall studs only, not into spacer boards which I put below straps. This water heater is in a 78 ranch that didn't even consider earthquakes. Highly recommend this product for those retrofitting.

I had to build up bracing to mount the straps since my water heater was free standing away from the wall. I built a frame out of 2x4s and attached the straps with very minimal trouble. I did have a set of steel straps that I bought several years back but never installed. They seemed like concertina wire plus I really didn't want to scratch up my $800 water heater with the sharp edges. So in all I was very pleased with the outcome with the soft belt straps and how solid they are. Of course the true test will be when the big one comes in the northern Oregon area. I hope not in my lifetime.
